Vetassess - Office Manager Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am about to send my skills assessment to Vetassess for Office Manager.

I really want to get this right first time so any help or experiences from people who have applied as an Office Manager would be appreciated.

I have 3.5 years experience as an Office Manager and a NVQ Level 4, however this is in accountancy, would this be classed as a relevant field? I do have to carry out financial duties as part of my role as the Office Manager and my employer felt this was the best qualification to enrol me on, I completed it this year (2011).

Also does anyone know what the 'Transcript' is in the required documents?

Lastly how many payslips do they need? I can only find my last 6 months and would only be able to gain printer copies from my employer if they need more.

Has anyone has a successful assessment? How long did it take?

I travel to Oz in December and would like to have it all wrapped up and passed by then so that I can try really hard and find a sponsor whilst on my WHV.

All help appreciated.

My husband was successfully assessed for Office Manager with Vetassess. It took nearly 4 months, although it was all paper assessment. He did not have to supply any payslips/

He gained the relevant AQF Diploma of Management via recognition of prior learning before he submitted the application.

The Vetassess site states that for this position you must have a qualification assessed at AQF Diploma/AQF Advanced Diploma/Australian Associate Degree level. I dont know whether an NVQ 4 is the equivalent to this or recognised as such.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that!

Ive been reliable informed NVQ Level 4 is equivilant to Australia Advanced Diploma. Hopefully Vetassess wont tell me otherwise!

How long ago did you submit your application? Hoping to get mine sent in the next fortnight.

Can only keep fingers crossed regarding payslips.

Hi i was wondering if you have managed to find anything out regarding this. We are looking for different ways in which we can begin the process and have been concentrating on my husband's career. I have just realised that Office Manager is on the SOL Schedule 1 and 2. I have been an Office Manager for at least 13 years and also have an NVQ 4 but in Environmental Management, which I use in my current role as Sales Office Manager (I am the Carbon Champion for our depot within the organisation).

I am now feeling quite hopeful so any advice, guidance, information would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance

Di

Hi that would be fab, look forward to finding out your results.

Also have you applied for your assessment as the first step, it's all very confusing.

Hi Red, that would be fab if you could let me know how you get on.

Can I ask, have you applied for your assessment before doing anything else? It's all so confusing what has to be done and when.

Thanks again

Di

Yes I've applied for that first as I don't have sponsorship and I'm hoping that when I go to potential employers showing a positive assessment will reflect that I'm committed to being employed and assessed as being competent at that role level (I hope!). And also I hope it will make the sponsorship easier to obtain, although nothings a given. And worse case if I need to do more for a positive it will give me time to do what they need whilst I'm here in Australia on my WHV.Will be in touch!

Hi there,

Regarding the payslips, I have previously inquired with Vetassess on this. Below is their reply:

"2.As regards to Payslips, we suggest a minimum of two payslips from each employer."

Hope this helps :)

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know I received a successful assessment result this week!! icon7.png

So to sum up, my 4 years experience as an Office Manager with my AAT level 4 was enough to secure me the assessment.

Good luck to anyone going through their assessment!

(seperate note it took almost 16 weeks exactly from them receiving my documents)

Hi smithinoz,

After I received my positive skills assessment I moved to Sydney.

I wont admit to it being easy but after much persistence and plenty of job applications I have found a full time Office Managers job and if Im still performing well in role they will sponsor me (457) after 2 months :)

I would definitely recommend getting the skills assessment first as it proves to potential employers that you are serious about staying here and that you have the necessary skills to perform in role. The job market for WHV visa holders is very tough, recruitment agencies are good for temp roles to keep the $ coming in but you really have to put in the leg work and apply directly to employers (I found SEEK to be the best place to do this).

All being well in 2 months I'll be going through the 457 process and on the road to PR :)
