We are in a whirl at the moment, we decided to move to Oz a couple of weeks ago,

wasnt sure which way to go about applying for visas so sent off some CV's.

We've already been contacted and this agency say if we take a holiday out there they will have arranged interviews and are 90% sure we will be offered not only employment but sponsored employment meaning the company will sort out our visas etc!

This almost sound too good to be true im trying not to be excited.

He recons we will be in a position to hand our notices when we get back.

We have told him we will go out in Jan and are looking at primarily Brisbane area of QLD, and that we should put our house on market now in preparation as wil be able to go out within a month of being offered jobs and sponsorship.

We have looked at possibility of renting in a few areas like south bank coorparoo, paddington, red hill as more centrally located areas and also looking at eastern / coastal areas.

I do not drive so we need to move to an area i can easily commute by train to the CBD

Any information would be appreciated greatly !

:0)

Trying not to get too excited!

Hi, this sounds promising but I'm not sure if I would put my house on the market before the holiday!!

Can I ask which agency you have been in contact with and also what sort of job you will be sponsored for? What job do you do in the UK?

Hi Claire,

Thanks for getting back to me :)

Um we have contacted a few, those who have got back to us with the same infomation are anders elite, command recruitment and hays.

Im am going to be the little wife it looks as they have offered this on my husbands job construction site manager, i work in IT tech support.

The sponsorship is with the site manager's role

I am a bit worried about the housing market as it looks like it will be on the decline in the near future, we arent rich by any means and are going to need all of the capitol we can get once we have paid the mortgage to pay off other financial matters and will have a little but enough for the move to support us for a while

anything you can advise is welcomed

take care, flick

Hi,

We went to an Expo last October and the Agents there said a similar thing to us, my OH is an Air Conditioning Engineer and they said we could have a job offer and be out there in 6 weeks, which is really tempting and a great way to get into Oz. Because we want to live there permanently we have gone for a permanent visa and we are on the MODL list. Have a think about what you really want out of it as Sponsorship is only a temporary visa. I think its really good that you are going out there in Jan, a lot of people go without having been to Oz before.

I know what you mean about the house market here. We managed to sell our house within a week of putting on the market and were very lucky cos our buyer let us stay in for 4 months after. We are now living with my parents until we get our visa, we've not been asked for any further info - just in the medical backlog - but sponsorship is our back up plan if this falls through. If you know this is something you want to do, why not put on the market - lots of people on this site have been issued visas then had difficulties selling their house!

Hi

I am in a similar situation having been sponsored on a 457 visa. Everything is near completion except one thing!!! Cant sell the house.

Once we do go my new employer will be able to gain permanent visa after 6 months. Everthing will move very fast so if you do go down this route so be prepared!!

Good Luck

Steve

Thanks guys for rellying, appreciate your responses :notworthy:

We are lucky on the housing front as our friends have offered us a place to stay with them for as long as we need they also have a big lochup that will easily store the few possessions we want to keep and ship over.

We hope to have spruced the place up and have on the market before Christmas.

Steve how long ago and how did you go about on the emp sponsorship route? I'd love to pick your brains as Its just we have very little information at the moment, its great that you can get perm after such a short period of time !

Liz and Paul we are off to an expo in a few weeks in London, looking forward to it as should help us with those little things that could be easy to forget.

Fantastic you've got 2 ways of applying and somewhere to stay in the meantime!

Where are all of you guys all heading when you get out there ?

Good luck to you it sounds like both you Steve and Liz and Paul have thing pretty much sorted :)

take care flick xx

Hi Flick,

We are heading to Robina/Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast, my OH went out there in August and had a look at some primary schools and drove round neighbourhoods etc, we spent a year in Oz 10 years ago, but things change so he went on a fact finding mission - cos our oldest will start school end of Jan 08 over there so wanted to make sure we get the area and school right. We have planned to head out straight after Christmas or if we're lucky enough to get our visa's soon we may go before as we are now living with parents!

Good luck with the Expo - make sure you make a beeline for Agents that specialise in Sponsorship visas and Employment Agencies that specialise in your line of work as they tend to have relevant contacts of employment for you which can make things really easy! Just pick up every leaflet going, then you can take your time reading everything at home.
