Hi there,

My partner and I have been in Oz for just over 12 months and whilst she is currently working in the mental health sector as a programme worker, she is looking for a change. She worked in mental health for the NHS for over 20 years so whilst she has a great deal of practical experience, the main problem she is facing is she doesn't have any 'formal' nursing qualifications which seems to be a prerequisite for most of the jobs she applies for and appears the case here also.

Will this be the case for almost any mental health job she applies for or is there a different path she should be going down to assist in finding a new position?

Many thanks for any assitance you are able to give.

Hi, you need to look for PCA posts or AIN posts. I know its been mentioned recently that there is a move towards employing experienced non nurse qualified staff to support the team. Have the HCA role as with the NHS.

However, there is definately a huge EN population and this qualification only takes a year to get. Now you can get a course that is medication endorsed too.

This may the way forward??
