Guest clalot Posted August 25, 2011 Hi there, I am planning to go study for a year in Australia so I can fulfill the 12 month living requirement with my boyfriend (we lived together on my working holiday visa but when it ended I had to move back. Now we're doing long distance). However I saw the 'no further stay' requirement and am now wondering whether it will work or what we have to do? I still have my working holiday visa in New Zealand that I can use when the year's out I guess... but will that work? Can anyone give me any info on this? I am a UK citizen. Petals 4,259 Posted August 25, 2011 I think that there have been changes to student visas, not sure as people were getting a little upset at the way it was being used for migration purposes. Ask one of the migration agents who frequent the forum. Good luck Petals :ssign15:taking no prisoners
RockDr 1,177 Posted August 26, 2011 What the no further stay means, is that you cannot apply for the partner visa from within Australia. You will have to leave australia and apply for your partner visa offshore. The processing times are faster offshore than onshore anyway, and you may come back in on a tourist visa once you've submitted your application. You will have to leave the country again for a couple of weeks once the partner visa is ready for grant.

What 12 months living requirement? There is no such requirement. Applying for a student visa would be an extraordinarily expensive way of solving your problem. May I suggest you consult a registered migration agent for advice about alternative strategies?
