Furnished or Unfurnished?

Hi

We are moving to Brisbane in October and are currently planning our move.

We'd like to bring some furniture with us from the UK but we're not sure whether rental properties tend to be furnished or unfurnished. Can anyone help?

The last thing we want to do is turn up with a crate full of furniture if rental properties are usually furnished

Thanks for any advice

Hi longer term ( 6 month plus) rental houses are normally unfurnished, you may get a dishwasher but thats it. Most do have built in wardrobes so i wouldnt worry about bringing them.

A good site to look at for longer term rentals is www.realestate.com , just don't expect much response until your here if you contact agents as a property has to be inspected before you can sign a lease for it.

Most short term rental houses or arrival accommodation is furnished and you will have everything supplied. Most familys stay in a rental like this for their first 3 or 4 weeks. This gives you time to find, view and secure a longer term rental as well as give your furniture time to arrive. You can book short stay accommodation on line prior to you arriving and wont have to tie yourself into a lease, it is alot more expensive than unfurnished rentals so budget for this.

Hope this helps a little

Your best bet is to go to realestate.com.au like Cal says and you will be able to look at both, there are plenty of furnished and plenty of un-furnished here, I am here on a working holiday visa at the moment and have found both fully furnished properties no problem, also you are able to secure a long term rental before you get here however you will have to sign a "sight unseen" form to say you will take the property without inspecting it (probably not a good idea but easily enough done)
