Guest
Can anyone tell me any places that have become mining towns or simular? I want to do some research on moving to one of them rather than Perth. I heard Broome is good - anyone have experience of being there?

tisme
There's Newman, Port Hedland, Karratha. Housing is in short supply in the mining towns and if you are lucky enough to get one you'll pay through the nose for it. Even the caravan parks in these areas are full of long term residents. fourcorners
A few years ago Kal was pretty cheap compared to mining town up north. Kal is big enough to have enough housing stock for the residential workforce. It also has everything you need, shops, restaurants, bars, sports & recreation. And when you need the beach you head down to Esperance for the weekend. Or if you want to live in a smaller town, there's Ravensthorpe, Norseman, Leinster etc in the Goldfields. We are heading back to Kal later this year. I bet you the menus in our favourite places haven't changed since we left!
