Finance Qualifications

Recommended Posts

Guest jimmythecat

Hi, Im moving to Sydney with my wife in december (all being well) and am interested in chatting to anyone who has recently moved or started work as a mortgage or financial adviser.

I have various UK Finance exams & certificates allowing me to be a mortgage adviser in the UK but am not sure what Local exams or qualifications are best to get when I arrive (or if my existing ones are acceptable in oz too.)

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

James

ps: i only joined today so hope this post is in the right place.

Hi James

Did you get to Australia in December and have you learnt anything about the finance qualifications?

I'm interested because I'm a UK based Mortgage Broker intending to move to Australia this year.

Cheers

Jez

Hi

We have just completed sponsoring a mortgage broker from the UK on the 457 (she had CeMap, and as part of the process got the Diploma here), Prior experience was with Charcoals (we are predominantly phone based). All being well we anticipate we will have further requirements Sept/October based on lead volume. Happy to chat to anyone who is looking to come over/already over with strong broker experience.

Cheers

Declan

Hi Declan,

I am currently looking into options for entry to Australia. I am currently self employed in UK as a mortgage and protection adviser. I have CeMAP and vast experience in the industry both as an adviser and working for lenders as a mandated mortgage underwriter.

Any help and advice you could offer would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul

To work as a broker in Australia you will need

1. A minimum Cert IV in Mortgage Brokering, there is also a diploma which is required for MFAA membership (by December). These can be completed online

2. prior to lender accreditations you will need to be a member of an Industry body - the MFAA or FBAA

3. You also need to be either an employee of a business that has a credit licence or an accredited credit rep.

In terms of Visa requirements, if you are seeking a work related visa you will need an employer to sponsor you - we have done it so it is possible though it does not seem to be very common.

We are constantly looking out for highly experienced brokers who don't have a significant book. PM me your resume if you wish and I can let you know.

Cheers

Declan
