rahulpatel1969
As of today they have stopped processing of 489 visas. Seems they have reached the quota for the same. Dont get your hopes up the other categories are being utilized. We dont have any hope of being processed this year.

koopmaster
Seems about right, just because they used up one quota doesn't mean they will stop, they have over 200 000 visa spots to fill.

Not specifically saying about people who are waiting for N number of years, 2 years of backlog for FS means that if you see the table for offshore it says roughly processed until Jan 2008 and for onshore until mid or end 2009. Every subclass includes this be it onshore or offshore. Edited April 7, 2014 by GAGAN4321

Hi All, I am stuck in very bad situation here. I applied 487 FS in May 2010 and currently on Bridging visa A. Hence, my wife can't join me here. I am thinking of applying her student visa but since she is post graduate so, will be able to join a degree course only. Huge sum of money involved.....Do you think this is a better option instead of me waiting for 487 granted...... If Gagan's prediction is true, my case will be decided this year.....Really double minded at this stage..... Is there anyone with similar scenario????Any suggestions guys. Your response will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Though I am not a 175, but if you make the grant date in bold, it will be easier to see at a glance about the progress, Eg (Granted Dec 2013) This is just a suggestion, but good work! As your spouse is not migrating member, they still need medical and PCC for her considering He/She may applied for spouse visa after you granted visa.It happen to my case as well. Its good in other term, you can use same PCC and medical for spouse visa application.Wish you quick grant.
