Hi

Have look at this page explaining the time line for each category

seems there is no change and all categories will be processed as before

http://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/8.0.htm

Also 475 visa is considered in Cat3 !

i think there are changes.

before for Cat-2(now cat-3) time was with in 12 month. not its 12 to 24 months....

Relative sponsored 176 & 475 without any sponsorship from state and if ur not on SOL 1 , then ur on priority 5...Correct me if I am wrong.

from my understanding, it seem that way too. Without state and not in new SOL, your P5!

that's what i really fear.... since they have not indicated 176 and 475 at P4 (New) we might fall to "all other visa" category which is P5.

Hi quick question- we are a 176 application wth sponsorship from SA, we have a case officer had meds and pcc's done - 1 applicant has been referred for the meds -will the new processing times effect those of us that already have c/o and have done meds/pcc checks? Cheers The Rimmers

Hi Helen

I don't think it will have any affect on those who have already been assigned CO's according to the GSM update above - fingers crossed x

Hi, thanks for that - it basically hasn't changed the processing for some cats, theyhave just by the looks of it shifted it down to seperate the previous cat 1 visas. Thats good news for us as a 176 ss, the thought of having to wait a year and then do meds again is horrific - so you have eased some of my stress this morning!! Thanks for that

Am I grilled again? ???????They have changed the SOL 1 also which does not include my application...does that mean I am on Priority 5?Not againnnnnnnnnnn...

I guess this puts us in another uncertain stage as to when exactly are we finally getting that very elusive visa grant. After several priority changes, it is getting difficult to keep a positive outlook...

If you ask me it is all a lot of Hot Air. Nothing has really changed for us waiting to be processed. Cat 4 (ex3) backlog is still being worked on. All top categories are pretty much up to date. Once new Cat 4 backlog has been processed they will commence with Cat 5! Reading between the lines, DIAC and the Australian Government have updated an old and ageing Migration System. Basically this new change is aimed at the applicants of the future. What Australia is saying is: We don't want people to come here under certain occupations, and then decide 'Hold on, I now fancy being an Animal Carer, instead of the skill I came in with, ie. Accountant'. The way to control people coming in and remaining in their nominated occupation for longer is to ask Employers to sponsor these people. Thus matching A with B. Trouble is up to yet the Australian Government has not really provided any framework to facilitate this very well. I mean,... WHERE ARE ALL THESE EMPLOYERS SO DESPERATE FOR US IMMIGRANTS? Anyone seen an Ad saying:'Please register here if you are interested in a Job down under and we'll put you in touch with an employer'. I'd be the first to sign up!!!! I know of a hell of a lot of people having tried to obtain Employer sponsorship, searching the net in desperation, to no avail! Second point is the wish of the Australian Government to settle people into rural/regional areas, as their cities are at bursting point, with their infrastructure becoming less and less able to cope with the influx of people. (ie. roads, housing, etc). Only recently in the Oz news the Australian Government announced it was giving people some A$ 4500 to give up living in Syndey and to move to the regional areas. This is what is behind all these recent changes. Other than that everything really remains exactly as it is. Cat 5 will have some 10,000 applications processed in date order, as announced. Hopefully, as I must admit DIAC have progressed tremendously well over the last couple of month to start clearing the backlog - WELL DONE DIAC! Despite all the negativity, on the positive side this is an important point. I shall look forward to the announcement of the processing of the first Cat 5! Maybe not as early as August/Sept as I predicted earlier, but surely we would see some movement by Christmas. God Knows, it would be a nice present :o)

Hiya, I am in the same situation of being unsure where I am. I lodged a 176 Wa SS on 30/6/11, so not exactly sure what this means for myself, can anyone shed any light on the cat and timeline. Thanks in advance, Donna.

Hi Donna

I my opinion nothing has changed other than they have split the old category 1 into two - so that means that pre 1st July you were a cat 2 and now your a cat 3.

The lastest gsm processing update from DIAC still states they are trying to allocate CO's within 2 week of recieving SS confirmation. If you lodged on the 30th June wait for an email from WA confirming that they have sent notification of SS to DIAC and then you can sent a PLE to DIAC 2 weeks later if you haven't heard from a CO.

Things may change with the new points system - they only thing we can do is wait and see

Chin up

Dear All,

I have lodged subclass 176 visa application on 29 June 2009. This is end of the second year since that time; please consider my application categorised in priority 4 and my occupation is cook, moreover I’m still waiting to hear from my specified case officer too. Could you estimate remaining time for my visa grant?</SPAN>

Your friendly information will be highly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ahmad

Skilled – Independent Regional (Provisional) subclass 495 and

Skilled – Designated Area Sponsored subclass 496

UX 495 and UZ 496 (e-lodged and paper): All applicants who have an occupation on the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) – Schedule 3 have been allocated.

Big mistake there is no Schedule 3 in the new SOL.
