Guest woj Posted June 27, 2011 Share Posted June 27, 2011 Just a quickie for you people that have done it, how long would you reckon to hire a car for? a few days or a week or more? We're flying into Perth at 3pm on a Monday, would a few days be enough to find a car and buy it/insure? or would it be better keeping the hire car over till the following monday? theres only a coupla hundred $$ difference in price. We hired a car from a UK website initially for a week, then had to extend to another week, and then a third before we found a car to buy that we liked/was in our budget. It was cheapest to hire from the UK as the insurance was a one off fee, whereas when hiring from here, they charged per day and it was basically the same as we'd paid for the week before, but charged that daily! Plus, to register the car in our name, we needed aussie driving licences. Insurance was easy enough to sort out online, if you'll have internet access straight away. To be honest, there's so much to do in the first few days, that car hunting had to take a bit of a backseat when we had to validate bank accounts, get medicare cards, apply for TFN's, get over jetlag etc etc. Shaz Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest stockies Posted June 29, 2011 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Hi Woj, I would keep the Hire car for as long as possible as you have so much to do in first couple of weeks, we got sorted with a car in the third week as needed an address for insurance etc....
