How long to find long term house rental in Canberra?

Recommended Posts

How long is it to realistically find a long tem house rental in Canberra in Beginning of October this year?

Not sure how long to book a short term furnished place.

Would 4 weeks be enough?

Arrive October 11th.

You should manage to get something in 4 weeks but it might not be the house of your dreams (location, features, price etc). You will have to work hard at it though, go to lots of open houses and be sure you have your real estate pack ready.

Hi guys

we arrived 3 weeks ago. We got offered the first house we wanted but declined it because it was too big for us and a little on the expensive side. We then viewed about 20 other properties and put applications in for a couple of them. A few of the agents never got back to us at all but one of the houses we saw we were offered that day. It seems to be anything that is on the market for a few weeks or so has little interest in it. We had to change our requirements and were flexible so we ended up getting a house in Calwell which is about 30 mins from civic but we really like it here. The market is tight and I would say if a house looks good on the internet to wait until you see it in reality. some of the pictures can make the place look nicer or bigger than it really is. Apparently the market gets tighter from Oct/ Nov so Quolls suggestion of having a rental pack ready would be a very good idea. If you are not working or dont have jobs as yet make sure that you have evidence to proove you can still pay your rent and give all details of references, id's etc.
