The Average Migrant Is...................

Recommended Posts

Guest guest37336

1. Between the ages of 40 - 45.

2. Have around £50,000 - £70,000 quid as 'collateral' (cold hard cash).

3. Their main reasons for going are 'Something Different/Adventure', rather than a 'Better' life.

4. Are prepared to come 'home' if things don't work out.

5. Are not expecting 'Utopia'.

6. Would fly with Singapore Airlines,

7. And have an average of 1.5 children.

I know this is a bit of a laugh and taken from a very, very small sample but there are the results so far from several threads/polls I have put up over recent months on PIO. From all the threads I put up over 218 people responded,:notworthy:, so as I said, a very small sample of who is actually emigrating, but all the same fairly interesting figures.

I am now off to submit my findings to DIAC to see if they 'pay' for such research,:biglaugh:, somehow I doubt it though,.

Sorry, but have always been a bit of an anorak but it has been an interesting read, many thanks to all those of you who took part.:notworthy::jiggy:.

Cheers Tony.

You could view the results differently.

They are not young, but not old. Relatively loaded,:biglaugh:. The spirit of adventure is paramount. Are realistic. Have a degree of taste as using Singy Airlines. :notworthy: And have one and a half children, always easier to pack that way.:biglaugh::embarrassed:.

Cheers Tony.

The average immigrant has 1.5 children, but no immigrant actually has 1.5 children.

Love statistics!

4/7 for me, not bad.

I'd have 5/7 if houses were selling in the UK and 6/7 if i could have another 1/2 a kid

going back wont be an option for me, tried that once. after 2 weeks remembered why i'd left in the first place.

We are most of them Tony .............. the wife is 44, we have 2 kids, we would come home if it didn't work out, why wouldn't anyone, unless they are stuck there and we love Singapore airlines. We are nicely off, but the exchange rate is crippling us and i'm not looking for Eutopia, but i think it will be near as it can be.

OK, OK hands up I admit it - we are the average migrants :notworthy:

We can more or less tick all those boxes, except after 3 years here I cannot see us ever going back for good, but we were prepared to if it did not work out.

we have one huge son (6ft 25 yr old) and one teeny tiny daughter (5ft on tippy toes, 22 yr old) who could be classed as the half

When we came in the 1970s we were in our early 20s, 2 babies, $8,000 - knew we could never afford to go back even for a visit , let alone return for good. Does wonders for your attitude when there is no escape route, I can tell you. Plaster the grin on and go out and make it work- and it did, too.

Are you saying you were no good at rugby? Or pehaps you were a forward (say the one who hooks the ball out of the scrum... no lets not say that:biglaugh:)
