Children up to two years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat. You must, however, inform Singapore Airlines that you will be traveling with an infant on your lap. Only one lap child is allowed per adult. If one adult is traveling with more than one infant under two years of age, contact Singapore Airlines as special arrangements are required. You can also choose to purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device. Will I pay for my infant to travel domestically? Contact Singapore Airlines for more information. Will I pay for my infant to travel internationally? Yes, a child under two years old (24 months) is usually charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight. What if my child turns two on the trip; will I have to buy a ticket for the return flight? Yes, a ticket will have to be purchased for any flight on which the infant will be over two years old. What types of child restraint devices are allowed? The use of booster seats is prohibited. Approved car-type child seats may be used for children under three years but not less than six months of age. The seat must be forward facing and can be secured to an aircraft passenger seat by means of an aircraft safety belt. It must also be approved under one of the following foreign airworthiness authority / government standards: United Kingdom (UK) Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States of America as meeting the Technical Standard Order TSO-C100b; or seats that have two markings: “This Restraint is Certified for Use in Motor Vehicles and Aircraft" in red lettering and “This seat conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)". European Safety Standard requirements of United Nations ECE Regulation 44 (UN/ECE 44). Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) No. 213 titled “Child Restraint Systems" or CMVSS No. 213.1 titled “Infant Seating and Restraint Systems". Australian/New Zealand design standard AS/NZS 1754 for infant car seats. Child harness approved by FAA is also accepted for use on the aircraft. However, not all models may be fitted on our First and Business Class seats. You may wish to contact our Singapore Airlines office for more details. Manufacturing standards and instructions must be provided by the customer to our ground staff and crew for reference. Usage of child car seat and child harness on board is subject to all child safety seat requirements. Both cannot be installed on seats in the emergency exit rows as well as the rows immediately before and after it. What infant amenities are available on the aircraft I'll be flying (i.e. bassinets, diaper changing tables)? Infant amenities vary by aircraft. When you're on the airplane page, look for the Infant Amenity Icon. If it is present, clicking on it will tell you what infant services are available on that airplane. If you do not see it, infant amenities are not offered on that aircraft. You can always contact Singapore Airlines for more information. While a limited number of bassinets are available on board on a first-come, first-served basis, Singapore Airlines recommends that you request a bassinet upon booking to assure easy travel with your infants. The dimensions of the bassinets are 768 L x 298 W x 158 H (mm). Bassinets can support a maximum weight of 14kg. Can I sit in the exit row with my infant? Lap children and infant seats are not allowed in exit rows. In fact, no one under the age of 15 is allowed in the exit rows.

Guest guest37336
Hi Susie. Fantastic thread,:wubclub::notworthy:. Changi can be a bit intimidating at times, the size etc, and anything that helps people find their way around is very helpful. If you don't mind can I add my little bit. The little automated foot massage machines that are all over the terminal and FREE. Many happy hour or so spent sitting down watching the world go by while using them, only trouble is that is spent too long in them you tend to get up and lost all feeling in the feet and look drunk for a while, but well worth the 'luxury' IMO. Cheers Tony.

Not being funny but this smoking area really does bring home the fact that you are in a completely different country, the smells, sounds, people, just great to have a ciggy and appreciate the pure intensity that is travelling overseas, and come on, what a view,:jiggy::notworthy:. Guest The Ropey HOFF
It is a fantastic airport, we bought 1,000 cigarettes Benson & Hedges for £12.50 per 200 box, we saved about £300 with the ones we bought cheap at Brisbane airport. Guest guest37336
Funnily enough Susie I have never used any of the hotels etc when I am there, I completely appreciate that some will take advantage, a rest, a time to chill out and the like, but being an anorak I love the airport(s). It gives me a huge rush to just sit there and watch all the different people, accents, clothes, to me it is what makes any journey, the ability to see the 'world' in a micro environment that is an airport. I would be willing just travel out there to spend a day in the airport and then return, still to this day gives me a tingle down the old spine. I may write one day, 'Airport Terminals Of The World', somehow I can't see it selling in its millions though,. Cheers Tony.

Guest siamsusie
Singapore Changi Airport Oxygen Bar When your car is out of gas, you hit the gas station, when you're low on fluids, you find a water fountain, but what if you're out of breath? Find an Oxygen Bar! It looks like Singapore has the right idea for travellers looking for some fresh air. Literally. Singapore's Changi Airport offers an oxygen bar. This is a place where you can breathe humidified air through a nasal tube. It has a bigger concentration of oxygen that helps you breathe easier. The different colors represent the various aromas one can choose to inhale. This is not only great to help you get some clean air, but it can help those who are anxious before a long plane ride! The Oxygen bar is in the Plaza Premium Lounge on Level 3 in Terminal 1.

boganbear
One thing that they won't tell you and is hushed up is that the airport was built on the site of the infamous Changi Prison where the Japanese imprisoned and tortured thousands of Allied servicemen. Two of my great uncles were imprisoned thereand one was sent to the Burma Railway. Fortunately they both survived but were never physically or mentally the same again. Guest Olibear
We took an evening flight from the UK (6pm) landed in Singapore at 3pm local, swam and lazed in the pool at terminal one. Had a quick kip in a hotel room ($50 or so which included the pool) and then got on the night flight to Melbourne arriving Melbourne at 11am. Perfect times all round and barely had jet-lag. The kids were perfect too. Singapore Airlines is great for kids.
Guest Olibear
Should point out that next time we'll do away with the hotel room and just use the pool. There's everything there towels, toilets, showers, drinks! What a nice way to start a new life!
Paul1Perth
I can recommend the pool if you are stuck in transit for a while. I had a 5 hr wait when I went back last year and felt pretty crap when I landed in Singapore, with another 5 Hr flight to look forward to. Felt like I was ponging a bit after the flight from Manchester and needed something to freshen me up. Found the pool and went for a swim and shower. Felt like a new man after that. Also went round the perfumery outlets and tried a few samples of the good aftershave. I though if I was ponging this would help to cover it up. Bonus was I felt great until I got on the plane then as soon as it took off I suddenly felt tired and slept for most of the flight to Perth. I would imagine, if you had kids it would be a great place to keep them occupied for a couple of hours and hopefully tire them out a bit. Guest The Tattams
This is a fantastic thread. We are staying over for 5 days in Singapore on our flight to Perth. We are a family of 4,girls are 9 & 12. What is the ONE thing that you would do whilst in Singapore, the one 'must do' thing that you want to tell the world about? There is so much to do and so little time, we thought that this would give us a break, however I'm sure we will be even more tired when we leave! Harrys Bar is a must when you go to Changi. Loved it.
