Hi everyone,

Glad to see my occupation (pharmacist) is on the new list. I have a few questions and hopefully you guys will be able to answer them.

1)I'm on a bridging visa to a 485 at the moment which was applied in aug 2010. Can I apply for an 885 visa now? Or do I have to wait for my 485 to be approved cuz it seems a not ridiculous to be waiting for the 485. I'm stuck in category 3 and they are only looking at nov 2009 applications at the moment!!!

2)with professional year and work experience, would my training as an intern (paid) in Australia be counted and work experience?

3) not sure how bridging visas but I would like to go for a holiday sometime soon. Do I have tell dimia where I'm going? Prove of air ticket to my home country etc? Will it be ok if I am not going back to my home country?

Why are you saying that you will be moved to cat3 ?

Why are you saying that you will be moved to cat3 ?

Because Cat3 is all applicants who are not ENS or SMP with occupations on Schedule 3 (the SOL). If the occupation is removed from the SOL, the applicant becomes Cat4, and if the occupation is added it becomes a P3.

885 Lodged: 14-Dec-2011, Meds and PCC front-loaded CO: 23-Jan-2012 Grant: 10-Jan-13 Citizenship Lodged: 24-Feb-14 Citizenship Test passed: 14-Mar-14

Well, not exactly. SOL is Skilled Occupation List and it includes several Schedules.

Schedule 3 is eg for 175 visa, Schedule 4 can give you Cat 2 if you get State Sponsored.

For some reason some people call Schedule 3 SOL... Also Schedule does not equal Category.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Twister92 is right my friend .... SCH-3 is considered as current SOL ... if your occupation is in SCH-3 then you are CAT-3.

SCH-4 can not confirm you CAT-2. Reason is that, States can choose occupations from SCH-4 and they can publish there own STATE MIGRATION PLAN LIST. you can only get CAT-2 if and only if your occupation is added in SMP of your sponsored state.

There are many CAT-4 applicants, who are state sponsored but there occupations are not in SMP of there state so they are stuck in CAT-4.

hope this will clear your doubts.

I so know how you feel with all the changes but hopefully with us being 08 applicants we should be at the front of the queue when July 1st comes before any other changes happen and if they do.

Hi take a look at this thread as it may answer any questions and yes you have to get you occupation recognized first

I'm thinking of applying for PR visa in July - I pass the points test presuming I can get a skills assessment. Does anyone know if there is anywhere I can find more info about the occupations on the SOL?

My occupation is on the SOL (Chemist) but I'm not sure if I fill the criteria for being a chemist! :arghh:

I am a chemistry technician (which is not on the SOL) but am over qualified for this post (Masters degree in Chemistry), which makes my application rather confusing! :err: I am also an assistant examiner for chemistry exam papers.

My husband has the same problem! BSc Environmental Chemistry, works as a Biology Technician in a uni.
