War pension declaration at medicals

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a question regarding declaring receipt of a war pension at the medical examination and was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and could offer some advice.

We are due to have our medicals shortly and going through the paperwork (form 26 part B applicant’s history) question 25 asks if you are in receipt of government help. I will answer yes, as I receive a war pension, for what I believe to be insignificant conditions i.e. no medical or surgical condition is present which would require further investigation or treatment currently or in the foreseeable future. (disc degeneration).

I will be taking all relevant history with me and a current letter from my GP stating the fact that my condition is stable and of no clinical significance.

Question

1. Has anyone had anything similar and not received an ‘A’ recommendation?

2. Answered question 25 by declaring receipt of a War Pension?

Thank you for your time

Liz

Hi Liz

My hubbie receives a war pension for damaged knee and multiple spinal fractures (thanks HM forces) which we declared. At the medicals the doctor took some information and asked us to get copies of the specialist reports from the doctors which we did. I cannot remember if we declared the war pension or not (we submitted June 2009) but our visa was granted next week without meds being referred.

If you can get copies of the specialist reports from your doctor take them with you to your medicals to try to save time. I also took his award letter showing what the damage was. Hubbie's accident was late 2003 and his fractures are stable thankfully.

Hope this helps

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your reply. It makes me feel alot better. I'm hoping that I get the 'A' and not be referred. Although i have all the info, this is still a very worrying and stressful time :(

Hi Liz

I know what you mean about being a worrying time. I really thought we would be referred and specialist reports ordered but there you are.

Wishing you well with your medicals - let me know how you get on.
