Major banks cancel credit cards after breach

Recommended Posts

It happens all the time not only to Australian banks.

Sony did it recently, was it Vodaphone a while back as well?

Not unique to just Australia.

Government depts, councils etc (inc. the ones in the UK as I recall) seem to make a habit of often dumping forms with personal info on them no matter where in the world they are.

At least they are doing something about it.

It was in a business not an ATM this is going to happen from time to time wherever you live. Hence the different Bank's cards which are affected. I am pleased to know our Bank's are on the ball and picked it up.

Yes this was a fraud by a merchant or at an individual merchant.

The banks have acted quickly to stop any cards that were compromised by the merchant.

They have done the right thing, but there will be some inconvenience to impacted cardholders.

I'd much rather some inconvenience than someone stealing money from me.
