Hi all

Soooo excited - landing in Mackay 3 June :jiggy:

Just trying to sort out some home comforts - can anyone tell me the best TV providers in Makay - Foxtel / Austar ?

I would start out with the basic Freeview and go from there. You either need a digital TV or HD digibox and you get around 18 channels I think for free.

If that not giving you what you want, then I would talk to people locally to you and see what they have.

Love

Hi

You don't get a choice when it comes to Foxtel / Austar. Depending on your postcode, you get one or the other. Basically, metropolitan areas get Foxtel and regional areas get Austar.

As far as I'm aware, Mackay is Austar.

We had Foxtel for years in Melbourne, but had to switch to Austar when me moved up to Cairns late last year. From what I'd read in the past, I thought Austar wasn't going to be as good/reliable as Foxtel, but I've had no complaints at all so far, the mystarHD box is surprisingly good and picture quality is excellent.

We hope to spend most of our time outdoors when we move next week, so we are just going with Freeview. It's not as expansive as Freeview in the UK but since the telly is only really used to watch kiddy shows we aren't too bothered. We'll have BBC iPlayer too.

You will not be able to view BBC programmes on iPlayer as you are outside the UK. The only way is to use a UK proxy service

I know, and it's already sorted out. I've been living in Indonesia for 8 months and haven't missed a beat.

This is the easiest way

http://www.watchtvnow.co.uk/tv/general/itv1--uk-only-.htm

BUT you cannot view from outside the UK, you will need to use a UK proxy, this is the one i use

http://www.ukproxy.tv

It costs $9 US per month, you can use free proxies but they can be unrealiable and slow
