Guest jambo79 Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 My wife, family and I went for our medicals this week thinking it was a formality. When my wife had her chest x-ray it showed a scar which was ten years old. She was called back in and asked if she had ever had pnuemonia or TB which she thought she hadn't. We left the medical with the staff saying it looked like TB scaring. We went to our own doctors and when he looked back along my wifes records it turns out that ten years ago she had pnuemonia but the hospital had failed to tell her, she was in hospital at the time with chicken pox. This would make sense of where the scaring come from but I am now worried we may fail on this scaring. Anybody with similar experience would love to hear or any advice? Many thanks a very worried person:wideeyed:

arlene Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Hi My husband had scarring on his chest xray and he had to see a respiratory specialist privately. He got another chest xray and it was all fine but did cost us another £300 hope it all goes well
Guest travelsparks Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I had a similar thing and my medicals were referred went back to my doctors and they told me that I had had a bad chest infection recently, not that I knew I had, day later my medicals were approved
sponts Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Hi all, To those of you who had their meds knowing about a chest infection/pneumonia, did you take previous x-rays with you? Is this likely to result in being referred or is it likely to speed things up? Any help would be appreciated, I am soon to submit my application, and I have recently had pneumonia. Can't really submit my application till my xray is all clear. Thanks, Jon

boganbear Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I was shocked to discover I had scarring on my lungs and the x rays were refered to Sydney. I think if they are not perfectly clear they have to refer them to Australia as a standard procedure. I did have a chest infection a year before which is probably where the scarring came from but i got the visa 3 weeks later with no extra tests. Good luck
Guest Ph0en1x Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 This really does make a mockery of the Medical considering the huge increase of TB here from Asia
