shellymc Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Hi all This is my story so far, my sister and family emigrated in Sept 2009 and me and my family visited in Jan 2010 for 5 weeks. We absolutely loved it so when we arrived home we done lots of research and decided to go ahead with the visa process. I'm a hairdresser and a hairdressing tutor so applied to go to Melbourne and as we started the process they took hairdressers off the skilled list, so gutted!!! Anyway after a few months of trying a few different options my agent came up with Adelaide so more research and my sister and family even went there for a holiday to check things out, all seemed great. Applied for TRA and passed then applied for State sponsership on 18th March 2011, sent documents on 7 th April and after what seemed like forever and money paid towards agents fees, my application was refused because they have enough applications for hairdressers. This was our worse nightmare and because i'm 40 years old the new points system which applies in July I might not reach the points unless I do an IELTS test and pass at a high level. I'm going to give it another go and I hate defeat LOL!!! If anyone is out there and needs a excellent hairdresser or tutor could they please sponser me and I will pay the costs, just want to start a life in oz with my OH and family and hopefully be near my sister one day. :arghh:
Amy Rose Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Its worth typing in google australia and google hairdressing companies asking if they will sponser you. Email lots! This is how my partner got sponsership and everyone who replied(most did) tried to be helpful and give advise and eventually one lady passed on details of someone she though might sponser him and lucky us he did!!! It took us 1yrish to get the visa as the company owner had to register his business first but we got it yey Now a friend wants to move to Australia so he did the same and after only the 3rd company he asked said they would give him a job and sponser him! so it's worth a try
Chardy Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Sorry to hear your run of bad luck Shelley. Hs your OH got an occupation he could use as main applicant instead ? I think ACT still have hairdresser on their list and you'd only have to spend 2 years there before moving on to be closer to your family.
shellymc Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Hi My oh is a HGV driver for DHL so it's not an option for him to be the main applicant and although he work for DHL he can not get a transfer because DHL dont do it to Australia. And my sister can't sponser me yet because she and her Hubby has only just got permanent residency. Just need a lucky opening to get in there. Sorry to hear your run of bad luck Shelley.
