Welcome to PIO LoobyLoo,

Tyke the Adelaide Moderator on our sister site, should be able to guide you on accomodation, and hopefully a few of our members here will also come up with some suggestions as well.

I hope you enjoy our site.

Are you looking to rent or buy? Do you have a family and thus need somewhere near good schools? Do you drive or do you need access to good public transport? Do you know where you and your OH will be based for work? Do you prefer somewhere a little rural, or more developed/built up?

Prices in Adelaide - apart from in one or two suburbs (Henley, Brighton, West Beach) are not overly affected by proximity to the beach - in fact some of the highest priced housing is to the East not to the West where the beaches are. They are more affected by proximity to the City so if your jobs won't tie you to commuting there, you could easily look a little further afield.

These factors will all affect where to look. There are really only one or two suburbs overall that I'd avoid - I won't name them on an open forum though as someone is bound to live there and take offence - but apart from those, you should be able to find somewhere to suit your needs, as long as your budget is not totally unrealistic!

Most people would get a furnished holiday type let for a few weeks (often cheaper than a hotel and it means you can cook for yourself too - saving more money).

Then you can drive around and look at areas you might like to rent in. Getting a long term let (which are usually unfurnished) is best done on the ground as you really need to see it before signing up for 6 or 12 months.

Have a look on realestate.com.au for long term rentals and sites like stays or holiday rentals for short term. Also many holiday lets may give better rates for longer lets over a month so always ask.
