Hi there, new here to this site.. We are both in a stress about to lodge this application but need to clarify a few things.

1. What documents need to be certified? Do we just send everything else that doesnt have to be certified as a copy?

2. I am the Aussie, Im here in the UK on a YMS and obviously dont have a job or house back home. I have been working casually in the uk, and back home i am a professional scuba dive instructor, so i should have no problem getting work again. My partner is working full time in london in an office and earns a lot more than me. and is also a scuba instructor so will get work easy aswell. we have a joint account which now has over 5000 pounds in it which will be for when we get home and my father has written a letter to say we can stay at his place free of charge for as long as we need.

Will all of this be ok? I don't want them to think we are going back home to bludge off the government ...

3. The stat dec written by the 2 Australian citizens. Do we need a photo copy of their passport/birth certificate to go with their stat decs?

4. How exactly to we lodge and pay for it in London?

and finally i will list all the documents we have to show we have been together for 3 years...

- Stat Decs from both of us

- 2 x Stat Decs from Australian Citizens

- 3 x Stat Decs from other friends and family

- Joint Bank Account details - opened in july 2010

- Proof of address from first place we lived in together in australia 2008, (seperate letters but posted to the same address)

- Joint Travel documents

- We lived in mexico in hostels for 3 months in 2009 and only have flight tickets to prove this

- Proof from seperate accounts that money was spent in mexico from both of our accounts

- Passport stamp photocopys

- Proof of living at same address in UK from Sept 2009. ( Seperate documents but to same address)

- Letter from Partners mother to confirm we payed rent together since sept 2009 to present (because we never thought about a rent reciept book)

- Car insurance papers for the last 14 months with both names on it

- Joint wedding invites

- photos from all parts of the world

- stat dec about how i will support my partner by staying at my fathers house

I think thats about it... you think its enough??

Thanks guys

it looks like enough to me. Im currently gathering evidence for our defacto status and have similar to yourself. photos, xmas/birthday cards, proof of address, witness statements from England and Form 888 from friends in Oz. I'm no expert though, just starting out myself.

4. How exactly to we lodge and pay for it in London? You can lodge in person at Australia House, or by post, or front load.Payment I paid with my Ozzie credit card. It does give you the method of payment.

Hi there Shanoebs, wishing you a warm welcome to PIO, there are many of us that have gone down the De Facto/PMV route, so there is an abundance of advice here to be had. Dont be afraid to shout!

I also enclosed copies of our Wills, drawn up by our Solicitor

Memberships of clubs and institutions

Me being the benefactor of my husband's Super

Form 80? In case they ask for it!

It is not required you send in reams of photographs, photocopies will do date stamped just to give an overall history of what you have been doing together.

Good luck with it all, hopefully you will be just fine.

There is a thread on here for people who are applying/have applied for partner visas. You should have a look as there is lots of advice on there that would help you. We applied in March for a partner visa....I'm from Australia too, and currently living in the UK. Just waiting patiently now to get home!

Good luck with the application Shanoebs, we were in a slightly different situation. We were in Australia in 2004 and my job sponsored me and also put my boyfriend on my visa as defacto. They did all the hardwork for us really. When we came back to Ireland and applied for PR it was easier because he'd already been on my visa once. I got everything certified, I didn't want to get caught out missing something but a friend is a solicitor so I didn't have to pay for it. We sent it joint bank statements, leases, the old visa and form 888 and stat decs from my family and his. I don't know if this was overkill as we were processed within 6 months with no questions. At the time my job was on the CSL though so that may have been it. Best of luck.
