457/176 visa

I was wondering if anyone on here has ever swapped over from a 176 visa to a 457 visa or if it is even possible.

 

My family are currently going through the application for a 176 visa our medicals were completed on Tuesday and we are awaiting our police checks. I have just found out that there may be an opportunity for me to apply for a job that comes with a 457 visa.

I have contacted my case officer to see if this is even possible but they haven't got back to me yet, we didn't use a migration agent so I am hoping that any fellow PIO's may have any idea if a visa change is possible or if we are too far into the process for that.
