Guest pandp Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Hi all,:cute: As you may already know we have been granted our visa and now we need as much help as we can get as we've never been to Australia. We're thinking of moving to Mandurah as it is just out of the city a bit and there seems to be good links to the airport, etc. My OH is a dryliner and he's hoping to open a business over there. Just wondering if there is much construction work and where would be the best place to look for it, north or south of Perth? I also own an online boutique selling ladies bags and shoes which I am planning to move over there too and I am looking for a good hosting provider to move my website. Any suggestions? Also, we're looking to rent a short term accommodation so any links and ideas of the prices would be helpful. There is only 2 of us, so 1-3 bedroom rental would be perfect. We are aiming to get there by the start of July so very busy trying to sort things out. We're nervous and excited at the same time! Is there any meet-up groups we could go to in Mandurah area where we could meet for coffee or few beers. Is there any groups that could help to get you settled, etc.? Paulina
moirclan Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 What good links does mandurah have to the airport ? They are a long way from each other
moirclan Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Both airports [ international and domstic ] are more belmont area, the foothiils would be proberly a good area to start looking to cut down travel time have a look at kalamunda , goosberry hill, or lesmurdie , not close to the beach , more in the hills larger blocks so you dont feel confined and closer to hwere you need to be
Guest pandp Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Why? How far is it from Mandurah to the international airport (I mean driving time)?
moirclan Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Just over an hour from Mandurah to Perth Airport its just under 70kms from airport to mandurah i think , doubt very much it would be an hour in peak hour traffic , from oceanreef on to the freeway to welshpool in peak hour can often take an hour and a half and the reality of the distance on the week end is half an hour , midland to oceanreef is about 40 mins and it often takes me an hour or more in peak hour taffic
Guest JustFaffing Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hi Pandp, http://www.realestate.com.au/rent This is a great website to look for rentals. It covers most suburbs. Loads of the suburbs are near the airport. I'd recommend looking on google maps for suburbs you'd like to live in then having a look on this link for an idea of rents in that area. Rents will seem high but your wages are generally higher once you are here. I'm an architect and there seems to be a much more bouyant construction industry here so hopefully your other half shouldn't have much trouble finding work. Good luck with the move. I've only been here for 6 weeks but love it so far.
getus2oz Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Agreed, I haven't done airport run in peak times so I have no idea how much this would add onto journey, but I have picked up family several times and it has always taken me 1 hour 10 mins.
Guest The Ropey HOFF Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Best of luck perth is fantastic, we liked Mandra, its quiet down there but thats what we like.
Guest pandp Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Thanks for your help guys! While finding a long-term accommodation on the Internet seems to be easy enough, I can't seem to be able to track down many sites offerring short-term accommodation / holiday rentals in Mandurah area.
