helene73 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk As of the 10th may SA took us hairdresser off their state migration plan When I found out the news I was gutted!!! I have been told by my agent who has been great by the way that SA have filled their quota's and we will still be showing as assessing till they get to the rest of us that are lodged then we will get a refused put on there. I could jump states but I reckon that other states will be close to filling there quota's too. So now I am going to wait till July till the changes come in under the proposed system it looks like I have the points, I just hope that when the state migration plans come out some have hairdressers on them. I have been told the state migration plans come out December ish is this true? But they may come out earlier with the changes it now a waiting game I suppose!!! I am willing to go where ever I had originally wanted WA but they weren't taking hairdressers so had to go SA. Well I am up for a adventure and know most people have knock backs, l am looking forward to what the future brings who knows where I will end up (exciting)
thewaltons Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 we are the same as you ive got to wait to see if they put cook back on fingers crossed:arghh:

I applied to SA as a hairdresser last month, 7th April. Or will it still be assessed because hairdressing was on it when I applied? Many thanks, Alison x
thewebweazel Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I had the same thing happen to me (Telecoms Tech). My app arrived in SA on the 27 th April (acknowledged) and on the 28th my occupation was knocked off. My agent told me that there might still be a chance that the grant SS as they have not refused it yet.(I have utmost confidence in my agent as they have been around for a long time and i would consider them to be in the top 2). I find it strange that the system is online so surely as soon as the occupation reaches quota they would email everyone in that occupation to say you app has been refused, Job done? I cannot see what they would gain by waiting.

Guest Fabian Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Here in the ACT Hairdresser are on the SS list...has been like that since the SS plan is out. Why not applying here ? I see that problem arising quite often here in ACT. We need skilled migrants and have some occupations on the list that others states dont have ( example : cook, hairdresser) and still, why are there no more migrants coming to the ACT ? Can't imagine they are getting rejected...think the majority doesn't want to live here. Yeah Canberra sucks but hey, PR or no PR ? Sometimes you need to sacrifice something to get something you want... I also can imagine it would be heaps cooler to work somewhere at the coast where its nice and warm but here I am getting the PR.
thewaltons Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 i would apply to act i am a cook but they want you to take lots of money which we dont have, our money is tied up in the house and with the market as it is we will only have about £25000:cry::cry:
Guest Fabian Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Hmm fair enough. $20000 in transferable assests + $10000 for each applicant is alot...I agree. Didnt know that its thats much though.

We are considering ACT I didn't want SA but like you say it gets you there in the end!!! Gonna hang fire though till the SMP come out. Thanks for that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest Fabian Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 The SA SMP is already out mate... came out last year December. Or am I missing some facts ? ACT is still accepting applications even though the points system might change in July...still a chance. If you need an agent for that I could also recommend you the one I use for my stuff.
thewebweazel Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Ive just sent SA SS dept an email to clarify our position and at least if it is the case we have be rejected to change our status on the on line tracking to that of rejected. It really irritates me that they say the quota is met, that my status still shows as being assessed. Its a no brainer to me, the system is online surely the can press a key and everyone that has not made it in that occupation gets an email/status change.
helene73 Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Hi we are considering ACT don't think i will make it before the changes come in. how long did it take to get your SS? Do they check you have the cash in your bank account? as mine is all tied up in the house and buisiness i more than have the amount required and would have it available on arrival. I did not origanally want SA i was using that as a steping stone so i have no problem doing the same with ACT the only bummer is it aint near the beach lol

Guest stormgal Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I also got refused SA state sponsorship today. Same reply as above, Alison Just a brief (and probably dumb question), but do you get your money back when your application is refused?
Ali&Paul Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Just a brief (and probably dumb question), but do you get your money back when your application is refused? SA don't charge you to apply, im not sure about other states but we didn't pay apart from an agent fee of £300 to help us with the application which we will defo never see again
thewebweazel Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I also got refused SA state sponsorship today. Same reply as above, Alison Really sorry to hear that!
Guest Fabian Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Some states charge for certain visa classes. Example ACT : 886 is for free but 176 costs $275.
