Guest philpot Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Hi all, We're thinking of buying a house back in the uk at the mo. Does anyone know of lenders in blighty who will give you a mortgage being resident in Oz but wanting to buy back in the uk? Hsbc do one but wondered if anyone had experience or knew of anyone else!!! Thanks in advance guys Philpot
boganbear Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Probably best to sort things out when you get there.
Guest siamsusie Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Hi Philpot, Have a look at this link http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/moving-back-uk/85970-expat-mortgages.html Conniebygaslight has a few good hints and tips where to obtain a UK mortgage. She is also a returnee. Very best wishes Susie x

Guest my3152 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Thanks guys. We're actually staying in Oz for the forseeable future but wanting to buy back in the uk now. Thanks Susie, some great info!!!! Hi Philpot, I too am looking for info re Expat Mortgage as I want to buy in UK but am living in Oz. Have you had any luck with getting info as yet?
Guest philpot Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 From our research the main 2 banks that do it are HSBC and Barclays Wealth. Barclays wealth has its own website to get the contact details from and if you just contact the main UK number for HSBC and explain exactly what you're after they'll forward you to the relevant department. You may need to do a fair bit of chasing up as they don't always get back to you when they say they will. It seems pretty straight forward (when we spoke to Barclays Wealth). Minimum 30% deposit, must earn over 25,000 GBP, been in job over 6 months, rent must cover 115% of mortgage etc etc. Hope this helps
Guest my3152 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Hi, Thanks for info, will chase up. Have you got a property in mind that you want to buy or are you just looking atm?
