Hi all,

I cant believe what i have done!!! iv only gone and sat the wrong IELTS test, i was wrongly advised and sat the general version of the test passed with flying colours then when i have sent the results off to the migration agent i was told that for my nursing registration in Oz i need to do the academic version!! how stupid am??? so another £115 and a pending exam to sit i feel like we have yet hit another brick wall as well as thinking is this happening to test us to see if we really want to do this!! OMG can anyone give me any advice for academic version of the test?

Also our agent has said that because we have two small children we shouldnt be contemplating the 457 visa (as hopefully applying for 175 visa if pass this bloody test!) as its not really an option for families as if a job falls through you have to be out of the country in so many days...

Help........ we have only just began the process of a 15 year dream only to be thinking of throwing the towel in already!

Best wishes

Oh lord Hayley - how flippin annoying is that? But keep yer chins up and sit the academic. No doubt you will fly that one too and then you can get your application in. Are nurses on the state sponsorship lists? That's certainly another option for you - and I believe the 176 are moving a lot faster than the 175. Just a thought. Good luck anyway. x

It's such a shame. You are not the only one!!! It is surprising how many people on here have been given the wrong advise regarding which IELTS to take. It must be so frustrating.

All the best with the academic test. You will be fine.

I am just waiting on the ANMAC now grrrrr!!

Don't throw the towel in one thing you learn on these sites is everyone hits a brick wall at one time or another but they get there in the end :) I too have hit a brick wall my occupational quota's have just been hit for SS so I am now waiting for the July changes!! If this is the only set back you have it's not a biggy. Good luck and I hope everything works out :)

We're here on a 457 - came with 2 small children and now have 4

If i were to do it again i wouldnt do the 457 we did have one occasion where hubby faced losing his job due to work shortage - the last 12 months have been the worst of my life worrying (pregnant too) But happy to say the company are now sponsoring us for 856 and application is about to be submit this week so all worked out good in the end for us - but it has been a hard road no family benefits at all financially it was a strain until i got a job after the first new baby and thankfully kept the job after 2nd baby (just 8 weeks old) We always knew we wouldnt get family assistance on the 457 and was fine with that but then having the 2 babies here made it hard. Alot of family support i'm lucky to say as i have family here.

Its certainly a way in is the 457 however personally i wouldn't choose that road again with the kids - but that is my personally thoughts and i know some that the 457 has been fine even with kids and no dramas at all with the job.

Good luck with it all :)

Hi apology for late reply, thanks for the advice, i know i am very frustrated!! got my date through for academic 11/06, nurses are on the SS however i will still need the test as its the nursing skill assessment in OZ that require it, i wouldnt need it on 457 but been advised to stay away with young kids in tow!

thanks anyway
