We have no rental history as have always been home owners with a mortgage. We as yet have no Australian proof of income, will this be a problem? We getting a file together with the necessary documents so we are ready when we arrive there. thanks in advance for any information.
Mummy Mann Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Hi, Not from experience but what I have read on pio over the past months. Mortgage statements Bank statements Character reference. Really anything you can get together to show that you manage your finances well. Also if you offer a higher bond than what is requested, that also helps. Regards

(Worth doing before you come - we had to go and buy a cheap printer/copier, as it ended up easier than finding somewhere to photocopy the numerous things for house, schools etc) We also had to provide names and contact details of 2 professional and 1 character referees each.
windswept Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 The other thing is a local reference. We have provided our contact details for lots of tenants in the past to give to agents for this purpose. The real estate agents like to call us up and ask two things - is the rent paid on time, and is the property looked after? If you are staying in short term accommodation, do think about asking the owner/s if they will do the same. It's not a big imposition by any means, and it has a strong impact. Good luck!!

Also when you get here if you rent a furnished home, get the agent to give you a reference. Most short term agents know a lot of the Property Managers at real estate agents in their area and get to know about the homes coming on
