Q about flying from IRE to SYD via Singapore (176)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

when you check in your bags and fly from Ireland to Sydney via Heathrow and Singapore (overnight stopover here), do your bags go straight through to Sydney?

Just wondering if we will have pick them up in Singapore, as we have a stopover there for a night.

If anyone has any insight about this, could you let me know?

Thanks,

Harry.

Hi Harry,

You will be collecting your bags in Singapore if you are stopping over.

it will depend exactly how long your stopover is for. When I had a 10hr-ish overnighter, my bags were checked through and I stayed in the airport hotel.

We have flown with various airlines from Dublin-Australia and back with at times two or three overnight stopovers along the way,eg 1 night singapore,1 paris,1 london then dublin..We just brought enough in carry on to keep us going and arranged for the rest of our baggage to be collected at final destination. It may depend on the individual airline, not sure.We never trudge around with all our bags during overnight stopovers, enough hard work traipsing three kids around let alone bags as well.I would suggest you check with your airline,we never had a problem and it was at no extra cost,we just asked and they said no problem.Your bags still travel with you on the flight, you just don't see them until you finish your journey and go to the luggage pick up point like everyone else.

Thanks everyone for all the info,

i guess best thing to do is ring the airline and see what their position is.

Thanks again,

Harry.
