Hi,

I fly out to Brisbane this Saturday to start my new life there. For the first few months I am on my own as my wife flys out in August.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend some fun or interesting places well worth visiting in my first few months there.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Darren

We spent our first 2 months in QLd with the family (ie, cheap holiday) a couple of years ago. Anywhere on the Sunny coast, or hinterladn - Maleny or Montville. We found a great waterhole in the national park near there and i had the most fun in my life, having never swam in a cool river, seeing kookaburas for the first time and getting over my fear of spiders (didnt see one). The pineapple fields near Beerwah/Glasshouse Mountains, Australia Zoo are absolutely divine and you get them from roadside stalls. I have never tasted such a nice pineapple so we bought 6 of them!

Bribie Island and Caloundra are great or surfing boogyboarding and Moreton Island (day trip) was amazing snorkling with tropical fish and sand toboganning down massive sand dunes. and the waterpark on the goald cost is fun. I may be now 40 but my first memories of Oz were quite childlike like seeing my first yabbie and its one of the joys of Australia - doing simple things that you couldnt do in England.

Arrived on Monday 16th and I went to Mount Coo-Tha on the Thursday and despite the poor weather (it was cloudy), it was an amazing view.

Definately recommend going to visit when you arrive. There is also a restaurant at the top, so I will be taking my wife there when she arrives.
