Why Move Down Under!

I am interested to discover why people have decided to take the jump and move down under. I have wanted to take the plunge for years!

After going on a couple of fact finding trips, we think it’s the right place for our family. Why do you want to take the plunge?

Hi we have decided to move as see no future for our children in the UK, + better weather, we can afford a nicer/bigger house. Better working conditions, lifestyle, etc. Of course we are aware that the grass is not always greener, but were willing to give it a try.

We decided because we have gone a few times and it feels home to us .Close to Asia

Also better wages/jobs for us in oz than in the UK ....OH would have to work away from the UK in a differant country if we stayed in the UK .

:jiggy:Space for the kids

Hi there reason for us was my OH got a no brainer brilliant job and we would have been stupid not to take the plunge... we have lived in plenty of different countries before so figure that we dont have the grass is greener attitude. We also realise the sun will be great and surf for us as we love the outdoor lifestyle.

We leave end of the month so not long now just 19 more sleeps :)

We are very similar, we feel there is a much better life for our children. We both work very hard and hardly get any quality time. My only concern is the health service our son has very mild cerebral palsy and receives physio therapy and I am not sure how this would work down under.

We are moving to live nearer to family. My husbands mother, stepdad, sister and brother in law are all over there so we want our son to grow up around family. We also love the way of life over there and have really enjoyed every trip over there.

Theres alot of things happening in the work place here in the uk and none of it is good and i see nothing much for the kids in terms of a good career, jobs, pay, pensions etc.

I want to go personally for the warm climate 50 years of long cold winters and not so great summers has taken its toll on me and i think the warm weather will be great for my health, plus living near a fantastic beach and warm sea and being able to play golf all year round will improve my fitness and health.

And finally ................ seeing something different, some adventure, with an amazing new life, in ............. Australia.

For a last adventure i suppose, its NOT the most financially sensible thing we've ever done tbh,but balls to it,so we just wannna see it and try it,as has been said...lifes for living!,NOT wondering,we'l see in time if its for us,gotta try it tho,to find out?! its that easy tbh.

Ill start with the weather. I really love the hot weather and am always searching for the sun.

Im fed up with my work life at the moment, and am looking forward to a new challenge.

Outdoor lifestyle, Living near the beach, can use my motorcycle most days of the year instead of the other way around, new challenge adventure, generally cleaner, less people, disalusioned with British Politics, and feel the country is on a downward sprial. Better opportunities for the kids, better lifestyle for the kids.

It is great to hear everyones reasons for the big move! we are not looking for the fairy tale however we r looking for the perfect work family life balance! It would be nice to know that when it comes to spending time with the family we can do it without the weather getting in the way. I wish you all the best of luck and hope you all get where you want to get to and live the DREAM !!!!!

I moved here 'cos I was in a relationship with an Australian and when I became pregnant we had to pick a country to settle in and he really wanted to raise our kids here in Australia plus his visa issues sort of forced the decision to choose Australia. I won't say it has been easy I have been here 5 years and have hated it with a passion for most of those years and can only really say now I am beginning to find life here better and I think that is more to do with me than Australia!! lol Saying that though a lot of what has been said here is right this is a great place for families it is more family orientated here than the UK could ever be it has the weather though the heat can take some getting used to it is great too if you live near the beach like I do as the kids are hardly ever away from the place!!

This country is far from a fairy tale but to some it is a dream personally I find it a very frustrating place very Americanised and at times seeming to be years behind the rest of the world in its ways and attitude. There are a lot of those on here who go mental the moment anything negative is said about Australia but I am just being honest in my own personal opinion and experience - I given the chance again would never come here but then again I can't imagine myself anywhere else as this is where my partner and my family are and that is what matters most to me. Just come here with open eyes and minds.

great to hear your outlook has become a bit more positive mcginlm72 :)

We came here mainly because of me. I moved to the UK from Holland because my partner is English, however the UK never had my fancy and always dreamed of somewhere with nice weather and lots and lots of space. I've grown to dislike the UK very much, and my OH grew to the idea of moving out here. Lots of investigation and we were pretty convinced things here could only improve our lives compared to the UK (ALOT more earnings, better jobs, alot more space and did I say the weather?) We've been here now for over a month and sofar we feel we have made the right decision :)
