Guest Donnastubbins Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 My Daughter has finally decided she wants to live here. She is 24, single and an IT specialist working for a Media company in Fleet street. She has a degree in history and an arm full of A levels. Donna and I have lived here for 11 years and have been Aussie citizens for 9 years. We find the information on applying for visas a mine field and ask if anyone can point us in the right direction. Due to a relationship breakdown and estrangement from her biological mother she wants to be here asap and wants to work asap. We have the means to support her for as long as it takes to get her settled and realize that we would be acting as sponsors. If you can assist we would be very grateful for any advice. Regards Daz and Donna.

Regards Daz and Donna. From what you have posted, it seems that skilled migration is very likely the only option for permanent residence, for which you will probably not be able to sponsor under the upcoming changes to the migration regulations. A temporary 'work visa' or a student visa, possibly leading to permanent residence might be options. A working holiday visa might be the best initial strategy. I suggest you consult a registered migration agent for a full assessment.
Guest Donnastubbins Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Thank you for the advice, we have been in touch with a migration expert in UK who unfortunately cannot do anything without knowing what the new changes are going to be. We are awaiting a reply from a friend of a friend who works in Immigration Office. Also in touch with a migration firm in Perth reference getting a working visa because she needs to be here by end of June because by then she will have nowhere to live anyway. This sounds ominous I know but it is a long story and Carley is estranged from her family in UK and has been for a number of years. We tried to get her to come back when she was at Uni but she wanted to finish her degree there and now I wish we had pressed her a bit more but thats wishful thinking. Anyway thanks again.
