As you know I was offered a job and sponsosrhsip on a 457 visa last week. They said on the phone they would like me to come and work for them and would look to getting references which they have

I've now had an email telling me to apply for my 457 visa online!!!!!!!! I don't even have my AHPRA registration through yet and I have had no official job offer or anything, and i thought i needed some form of TRN number or something first. I also wanted to find out if they would offer PR sponsorship after a time period which i did ask but not had confirmed

I had spoken to a representitive from WA Health prior to my cv being circulated and had said that although we dont have a house to sell we do have a few things to tie up and we could make the move in around 6 months but I have a feeling they want me yesterday.

I have a second interview with a hospital in Townsville next week and I would like to have that interview and then look at my options before deciding

What should i do, should i contact them back and explain this, ask for some kind of written offer, or should I wait until I have had my other interview next week and then see where the land lies. I don't want to leave anyone hanging but at the same time this has got to be right for my family and it all just seems very wishy washy at the moment and i'm not very comfortable with it.

Thanks x

Hi tandcmum,

I was just reading through your post and some of you questions were similar to what we went through with my OH Gemma....She has now secured a position with Greenslopes hospital in Brisbane. Can I ask a couple of questions first?

When did you apply for AHPRA? and what office was your application sent to?

Do you have any stuff that will need to come over on removals?

The reason I ask these is my OH AHPRA took 4 months to come through as they were a nightmare...we had all our paperwork perfect but it still took that long!

You will only get your TRN number when you have accepted a position from a Hospital...The TRN number will come from the hospital once they have requested it.....Once you have this number you can then apply for your e457 Visa...make sure you do it online if you want it to go through quicker as the online application is prioritised over the postal application.

When you have completed your online application you will need to submit paperwork to support your application....I have listed these below:-

Checklist for 457 Sponsorship Visa

Please note that when applying for your visa online the supporting documents do not need to be certified – so please disregard this if you read it on the Australian Immigration Department website as the documents definitely don’t need to be certified.

The following documents need to be uploaded into your visa application:

· A copy of your passport (photo and personal details)

· A copy of any dependants passports (photo and personal details)

· A copy of marriage certificate or evidence of de facto relationship if applicable

· A copy of birth certificates (for dependant children only)

· A copy of your Curriculum Vitae

· A copy of your Nursing Registration for the Australian State/Territory in which you intend to work

  • A copy of Australian private health insurance policy or proof of enrolment with Medicare for yourself and any dependants
  • A copy of a court-issued custody document or completed 1229 consent form for any dependant children if applicable

Health Requirements:

  • Medical/x-ray either booked or completed

Application Fee:

· $260 and this is to paid by credit card online

NB: We strongly recommend that all applications are applied for online as Immigration will give these applications priority. If unable to apply online, faxing the application is the next preferable option but please discuss this with your Consultant first.

I would have thought the Hospital once the Hospital has interviewed you and they are happy..they should send you a formal offer and then discuss with you an acceptable start date...We were given 6mnths which was great as we needed all the time we could take as we needed to save like crazy.

I hope this helps as a start....we were in the exact same boat as you...so if you need anymore questions answered just drop us a line.

All the best!

Hi

Thanks for your reply, I have had an interview and been told that they would like me to come and work for them but i have not officially accepted any offer and have had no email or letter stating terms and conditions etc just an email saying apply online for your 457 visa. My AHPRA stuff is already to go but i was waiting until i decided between WA and QLD before sending it so i could send it to the right office but i think it wouldn't really matter now it is all one nationwide body.

I would be happy with 6 months, as like you we need to sell stuff and get some cash together for the move, ideally I would like it to be February as then we would be there for the start of the new school year etc.

I think for the sake of a week and having this second interview I am just going to hang fire then i can make my decision on where we want to go if i get offered a job.

Hi there - My advice would be to wait to have second interview and then make your decision... in the meantime maybe you could mail your 1st job offer and ask for formal offer etc.. that way you have a little time inbetween.

All the best and stay calm these things are very often simpler than we imagine as we have a fear of messing up the unknown.

Hi,

i agree with Loubeany...its good if you can have a few offers so you can decide whats going to work best for your family!

If you are not in a rush, why go for employer sponsorship? They are bound to want you as soon as possible.

Take your time, apply for skilled migrant visa. Then you get to move when YOU are ready and you are PR from the start and have your pick of employers.
