peggsgreen Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Hi, Can anyone help me i have just done IELTS test and looking to appy for the 175 visa or state sponsored. But now found out i have to do ANMC skills assessment. I am a nurse with 10 years children's nursing experence. Just need to know how i do this ANMC test, i have been on their web page but cant find anything! Thanks Lisa:confused:
Mummy Mann Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Hi, yes you will need your skills assessed by the ANMC http://www.anmc.org.au/. If you visit this site on the right hand side of the page is access to all the info and how to apply. I sent my application in march. Cost approx £440. Some of my documents did not arrive so i have had to request them to be sent again. When you apply online you have to print off the form and send with certified copies of your: Birth Certificate Marriage/Change of name cerificate Passport photo Copy of initial registration certificate Copy of graduation certificate A professional reference Employment Statement Transcript of Training and theory hours You need to also request the following to be sent directly to them: IELTS Test results from the testing centre Verification of registration from the NMC The current waiting time for the letter of determination from the ANMAC is 10-12 weeks. You need to have this before you can lodge your visa application Regards
peggsgreen Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Thanks. you are a star ! i cannot believe the muddle im getting myself into  ! Just one more question - are you using an agent ? as we are planning on doing all the paper work etc ourselves ? thanks again lisa
peggsgreen Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Hi, Just been on the link you gave me and for the ielts test required it says academic version! I have just completed the general version as i was told this by an agency. Have i made a big mistake - cant bare to do it again! Which one did you do? Lisa
peggsgreen Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Cannot believe this, i even rang the ILETS office and they told me it was the general test i needed to go to australia. Im so angry!!!:arghh::arghh:
Mummy Mann Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Hi, I am sorry but unfortunately it is the academic test you need to take. Do you have a name of who told you it was the general test? You may be able to claim the money back for wrong information. Worth a try!!! I am not using an agent. The forms so far have been straight forward but it's time consuming trying to get all the documents together. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will try to help as much as I can. Regards
peggsgreen Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 Many thanks, No cant rememember who spoke to, been trying to ring them all day! its just the time issue that really bothers us. As the next test dates im sure are in August......... sooooo mad !
sharon69 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Hi Peggsgreen, I would be so angry too! There are so many places in London to do the IELTS so if you really don't mind travelling you'd be able to re-do the test before August. Good luck with getting everything sorted. Sharon
peggsgreen Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Hi, Many thanks going to call them today. Good luck to you Lisa
Guest melanie79 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 thats really interesting as i have to do my ielts test to get the extra 10 points needed. i will be doing it in dublin. it states on their own website it is the general test for migrating purposes to australia not the academic!!!!!!!!!!!
Kirstyaa Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Hi Mummy Mann. I was wondering if you could give me a little more information on your quote of about £440? Is that just for submitting the ANMAC application?? They say on the first page of the application that you have to use a credit card to pay, but i can't seem to find where it says how much this part of the application costs.
george106 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Hi, application fee went up this year again and currently is 850AUD for full assessment (approx. 570GBP). This fee is payable when you fill online application and they accept credit cards only. Then you need to send required documents by post as they accept certified copies only.
Kirstyaa Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Thank you for the reply. I am confusing myself. My husband will be the main visa applicant. But we are both nurses, so will we both have to do ANMAC seperately, and consequently pay the £570?? Also, do we need to have a medical? When does that come into the process?
Guest melanie79 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 hi kirstyaa, i dont know if you both will need to do anmac assessment- i think you should ring anmac & get them to answer that, to be sure. as for medicals- that is way down the line, its after you have lodged your visa (i take it your going for permanent residency if your doing anmac assessment), when a case officer gets allocated to your visa application, he or she will contact you by email to request the medical, police checks etc etc then. good luck melanie [ QUOTE=Kirstyaa;1935960755]Thank you for the reply. Kirstyaa Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Hi Melanie - well that was the plan until i heard we will probably have to pay out an extra £1,000 on top of the £2,000 for the visa, plus medicals, police checks, registration info etc etc etc. Wow, long winded hey? Our problem now is we're worried of investing thousands to not even be guaranteed to get there. We could blow our savings and wind up staying here anyway. It's a big decision.
Guest melanie79 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Yep-big decision & big money!!! It ain't easy& never any guarantees either. Have you thought of hospital sponsorship? Cheaper option& can get up to a 4year visa which Will give you enough time to decide if oz is the place you want to ne, plus it Will give you more points for permanent residency if you.decide to go down that route at a later stage. Kirstyaa Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 How is it cheaper? Do you not still have to go through ANMAC to get nursing skills approved, and pay the £2,000 visa fee? Plus we'd then have to pay medical insurance, and did i read something about school fees too? The the aditional visa fee in 4 years time to make it permanent anyway. I'm not ruling it out, we will look into that too, i'm still trying to understand. Head hurts! Have you heard many stories of nurses who don't actually get there once they've put in EOI and paid visa fee for the skilled independent? What about the sponsored visa? I'm pretty sure we'll have enough points. We're considering me doing ANMAC once we're out there on my husbands (I have a young child anyway, so would only want to work part time) - he has to get 7 on IELTS to nurse anyway, which would give him 65 points i think, but he's smart (lol it's true) so he should get the full 20, in which case we'd have 75 points. What do you think? Any advice? I'm sorry for the million questions, i appreciate you replying.
nic1171 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Hi Kirstyaa you dont pay visa fee until invited via EOI to apply so worse case scemario only ANMAC payment will be lost. Make sure its the academic IELTS you sit for ANMAC as there have been cases where folk havent realised and sat general only to have to resit the academic! You only need ANMAC if applying for PR, the temp visas such as what used to be the 457, not sure of number now, you could just do APHRA (which also has to be done for PR) so this works out cheaper but as you mention I believe your not entitled to as many benefits when there. My son will be going to Uni within 2 yr so thats why Im going PR as will be cheaper. Nicola
Kirstyaa Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Hi Nicola. I would be interested to hear how you get on in your process. Do you think that once you've been invited to apply for the PR visa, you're almost certain to actually get the visa then? Is it during the EOI that they categorise who to invite based on points etc? Yeah, thanks! I actually phoned up my local center and he advised me of the professional IELTS. I hadn't even heard of it until then!
Kirstyaa Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Oh and I also didn't know you don't have to do ANMAC with the sponsored one, that would make the process significantly quicker. When applying for PR after being in Aus for 2 years though, would we then have to go through ANMAC?
olly2boysmoran Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 hi, i am also a paediatric nurses just waiting for my IELTS results next week then putting in for NMAC skills assessment. As far as i understand you have to have your skills assessed by NMAC before you can do any nursing work, but I could be wrong. It will be interesting to keep an eye on this thread for further advice. Good luck everyone
olly2boysmoran Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Kirstyaa, how do you get sponsorship without going through ANMAC? would be interested in making my process quicker like you say, but not sure how you can bypass the ANMAC?
olly2boysmoran Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Does anyone know if you need a score of 7 in all areas of the IELTS or an overall score of 7? The website is a little confusing, it says a score of 7 in each area but also a score of 7 overall. Obviously if you achieved 7 in all 4 areas then you would get an overall of 7, so not sure which they are actually asking for. Thanks everyone.
Guest melanie79 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 has to be 7 in ALL 4 areas. good luck with the ielts. also make sure it is the ACADEMIC version not general training ielts.
