Guest chesters01 Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 hi looking to move to perth with my wife and two sons, there is a possibility my mother in law might come. she is nearly 50 but she can support her self in financial circumstances so she wont need to live off the state. would she be able to emigrate. can any one give me some advice please.

Where are you from? If you are from the UK there is no chance your mother in law could go with you IF you even qualify and are successful in getting a visa. http://www.immi.gov.au/visawizard/ Anyone on you application has to be dependent on your for all of their needs. This is not really possible in the UK because of the welfare state. She would be entitled to benefits, health care, pensions etc so would only be fully dependent on you in very exceptional circumstances. She might be able to migrate under her own steam though.
