Guest SDJ&A Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Just turned the computer on and saw this about Seve Ballesteros passing away. Knew he was ill but didn't know he was as ill as he was. A truely great player who was tremendous to watch. It was a pleasure to see him play. A Gentleman too. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/golf/13311206.stm
Guest The Ropey HOFF Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 It came on the news yesterday that his condition had deteriorated and it is a sad day for golf and sport in general, Seve is a legend of the game, a magician around the greens, a talisman and huge character, plus a gentleman, he is one of my all time favourite golfers and i will always remember his enthusiasm when he was captain of the Ryder cup team at Valderama in Spain, he inspired the Europeans to victory.
Bobj Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Such a fine golfer. A sad end to a glittering career. Cheers, Bobj.
kellyjamie Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 So sad, watched the clip of him talking about his fight, even sader he didnt have anyone to share it with, he had his children but no wife. God bless Seve, a true sporting legend and gentleman lost
Petals Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 So sad and I know his path. My daughter has the same condition and if only more money was spent on brain cancer research. There are so many cases these days and with our modern diagnostic techniques more are being detected all the time. The problem is that often by the time the brain cancer is diagnosed the tumour is too large or in a position where removing all of it can cause the patient to have problems in every day life. Blindness, lack of mobility etc. Fortunately my daughter's tumour was small 20 cent piece and they were able to remove it without too much disruption to her ongoing life. However she is not in remission even after six years due to the type of cancer. The thing is too, often there are no symptoms till you fall down one day. My daughter had no symptoms at all. I feel for his children.
