Subclass 801 Visa Charges?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I'm trying to arrange my wedding to my Australian Fiancé but I'm struggling to understand all the visa charges because obviously there are some pretty huge extremes!

I'm currently on the 417 working visa and I'm looking at going straight to the Subclass 801 as we intend to get married before my visa runs out. I'm looking for the cheapest option as I'm trying to take her to Hawaii to tie the knot but that's not going to be too easy if I have to pay the highest charge of $2575?

Is it cheaper if I go for the Fiance visa first then pay for the 801? Or does my visa entitle me to pay $300 for the 801?

Thank you :)

No you can not pay $300 if you are applying from a WHV.

If you apply for the prospective marriage visa it will cost you $1735 and then you pay $840 for the spouse visa. But the PMV is an offshore visa anyway which you're not.

If you apply straight for spouse visa you pay $2575. If you want to leave Aus and apply offshore you get to pay less $1735 but then have to be offshore when it is granted.

Shel has given you the correct information regarding visa costs but I see from your post that you expect to go straight to the permanent 801 rather than needing to spend a couple of years on a temporary/provisional 820 first.

Going by what you've written, I believe you're mistaken in that expectation. Being granted an 801 from the outset relies on the length of your married and/or de facto relationship (3+ years) though the time required can be shortened (to 2 years) if there is a child of the relationship.
