Hey everyone,

I have a quick question. I applied for my partner visa onshore in Melbourne a few weeks ago and tonight I have found a note saying I have a registered letter waiting to be picked up. Do you think this could be the letter??? Or could it just be them requesting further info?? Im trying not to get excited but I cant think of anything else that it would be. Nobody really has my address apart from the immigration people!! When I applied in person I got given an acknowlodgement letter so what else would it be?!

ahhhhh, I cant wait 12 hours to find out!!!!! :chatterbox:

Ok thank you :) I guess I'll have to wait and see!

Fingers crossed for you Tasha.... on a more cynical note:laugh: I would have thought DIAC would only stretch to sending a registered letter if they were asking you to leave the country:biggrin:.

Let us know how you get on

Definitely its a acknowledgement and Bridging Visa A grantation letter.I applied my wife's Onshore partner visa on 30 March and received same registered mail with a Bridging Visa A and they say it will take 6 to 9 months.Yeah its odd as they can e mail us rather than using this ancient way of communication:biglaugh:

8 days??? Congratulations you lucky devil!

Just out of interest for the rest of us mere mortals still waiting, any out of the ordinary stuff that might have swayed the processing time? kid on the way? agent?

Thank you

Nothing out of the ordinary, no agent, no child, no kid on the way, no nothing!! What I did do was supply everything they could possibly ask for in a folder with labels. I'm just guessing that as it was such a straight forward application they were able to process it quicker. I am shocked though as I assumed that they looked at applications on first come first served so thought mine would be at back......

That's what I was hoping to hear, many people have had their visa looked at within a few weeks, told they'll get it, and then have to wait until the 6months is up for it to be granted. The fact you got yours straightaway after it being assessed would seem to imply they're easing up on the artificial 6month rule they brought in late last year.

Hopefully.

Thanks, I'm just hoping I'll get mine before July, or I'll have to do my police checks again... just wishful thinking really, but would be nice... Not that it really matters, since the 2yrs for second stage is based on application date not grant date.

When did you apply? And what visa did you have before your bridging visa? I really dont understand how the lengths of wait can vary so much!
