New friends in Brissie?

Recommended Posts

Guest Teva

Hey all.

My boyfriend and I moved to Bris about 5 months ago. We have met one lovely couple but are keen to make more friends. We are both in our early 30's, easygoing and would love to meet some fellow expats. We live in Kangaroo Point and it would just be so nice to reestablish a social circle. Is anyone interested in catching up for a coffee or a few drinks?

Thanks!!

Teva

Hi Teva,

We are not yet out in Brisbane, my fiance's 457 visa application is currently being processed but we are hoping to be out there at the end of June. We are both in our early 30's too and would defintely be interested in meeting up when we get out there. How are you finding it in Kangaroo Point? We are considering living in West End, based on what we have read i.e not too far from the CBD, plenty of cafe's bars restaurants etc. Although, we are still very much doing our research in the areas to live.

Hey Yorkies!

Oh good luck, the waiting game for the visa is always a bit painful. Fantastic it will be lovely to meet you when you guys arrive.

We are really enjoying living in Kangaroo Point. On the side we live (on the right side) there is a city cat terminal which is SO lovely as you can go into the city or into New Farm where there are markets and the Powehouse which is a theatre with bars and a restaurant. There are also busses into the city and beautiful walks all the way to South Bank on the left side of Kangaroo Point. We havent gone out much in West End, I have heard from others that its nice to visit but quite boho to live in. Its definitely worth doing a short term rent ( a few weeks or a month) when you arrive and then visiting a few places to see if you like them before you settle into a long term rental.

Good luck with it. Ill inbox you my number and email address if you want to get in touch again.

Hi Jayne &/or Angie

We're in Logan so bit short of good cafes and bars, to say the least. We go into town if we're going out. Happy to meet for a drink if you fancy it. Brisbane or Gold Coast is fine. Just not Logan! :)

Hey Emma

How strange that we are on this also at the same time?

I am really pleased you are both going to come and meet us.....it will be great to meet some Brits!

Would you and your better half fancy meeting us for coffee?

How does Wednesday 15th June sound at 2pm? Are you both off work (I noticed you have not been here long so thought you may still be free during the week)

If you are, how about meeting us at Raby Bay (near Cleveland) for a coffee and catch up?

I will Private Message you my email

Cheers......

HI All

Sorry for being so rubbish with my posts, there seems to be a good few people out there also looking to make friends.

Kip could you let me know what the Brisbanites facebook group is called? I've searched for it but cant find it.

It would be great to come along to the couples evening on the 1st and meet some more lovely expats.

Thanks a lot!

Kip here. The couples night is on 1st July and we are meeting at the Press Club in the Valley. There is a train station only 10 minutes walk away so you can drink. I hear the drinks are very cheap in the place and it is a Jazz club. We are meeting at 7.30pm and a few people are coming so it should make for a good night if you can make it.

I hope that helps you out and I look forward to seeing you at the Press club with your other half. Private Message me if you need my mobile number so we can find each other (as I don't fancy wearing that red carnatiion thing)!!!

Regards

Kip
