We do have air con but have only used it a handfull of times, we find it brings on the sniffles and prefer the windows open and fans on. If you don't have it, fans are great (and you can drape strips of damp cloth in front of the fan to give a cooling effect) or you can get portable cooling units. PontePom Posted March 31, 2011 Share Posted March 31, 2011 We're in Qld and have had to have the aircon on maybe 6 hours this summer if that even. Loads of fans though and they're great. We are fortunate to have the four seasons in victoria :biggrin: but although this year not been as hot, usually need the aircon when in the house. Eera Posted April 2, 2011 Share Posted April 2, 2011 Depends if it's a new build or an old one; old ones are generally designed with higher ceilings and breezeways (you can open both ends of the house to catch the prevailing breeze). New builds generally are put up with no thought to the surrounds and are way warmer. You don't have much humidity in Melb so fans are quite effective.
