A few other things to take on board when your visa is eventually granted.

Good info.

We have now been in Perth for just over 3 weeks. Beaware about the little extras that you air con guys will need to complete to get your uk licences transferred into oz ones.

OH applied for his ARC licence beginning of February. We needed to supply quite alot of info but their site is fairly good. I can't remember the cost of that, not alot in the scheme of visas etc...

The next HUGE hurdle is that WA want all air con/fridge guys with a restricted electrical licence! Their Webpage is pretty poor really. They tell you about the $38 processing fee and the $300 for the practical test but they DONT give you the cost of the cost attending polytech to do the course! $300 for a computer test and $650 for the practical!!

Also another thing to beaware of is a job agency said not all companies are willing to take on those without the licences. My OH is lucky as his start off wage is $33ph fir 3 months and then up to $36-37ph. Some companies supply a car/van and NOT any tools, it varies from company to company. OH has forked out nearly $5000 on all his tools(they are of a mid-high quality.

Hope this helps those in the late stages of the visa process.

Hi Jk

thanks for posting, Just shows you you are not done even when you get there. Regarding the ARC, can you start the transfer process while in the UK or do you have to be in Oz.

I had you have to attend the TAFE or poly gor the Electrical license,

I am very suprised about the tools side of things, having to supply your own how 80's is that, lol.

I will have to forget to return some of my specialised tools when I leave my job here, Wink Wink.

How are you guys settling in.

regards

Si
