Any help would be appreciated.:notworthy: We are shipping our car on roll on roll off as it's so much cheaper than a container. Phil & Vikki 190 Posted March 6, 2011 Hi there, Sorry to be the bringers of bad news, but we have been told in the past that you can not personal belongings in the car at all. We had a few shipping companies in and they all said the same thing. The company we went with though did say that you could put car related items in the car, which was good for us as bringing over the classic with allthe bits was good. Hope this helps. Guest Posted March 7, 2011 We were told the car have to be fully cleaned and nothing in it at all? Not even spare parts in the boot? I would suggest have a check around with the different shippers/movers and see which ones say yes to parts in them. Quarantine Inspection & Steam cleaning of cars to Australia All motor vehicles imported into Australia are required to be clean prior to shipment and will be subject to a Quarantine inspection by AQIS (Australian Quarantine Inspection Service) upon arrival. This is to prevent the entry of diseases, noxious weeds and insect s/ pests into Australia; consequently we recommend that all motor cars are steam cleaned before they are loaded special attention to the underneath of the motor car (wheels, tyres, wheel arches, engine compartment). If it is accepted by Quarantine this should save you time and additional expenses. Unfortunately if Quarantine are not satisfied that the vehicle is in an acceptable condition to be used on the Australian roads they will insist that steam cleaning or fumigation be carried out which will incur additional fees . PontePom 544 Posted March 8, 2011 When we shipped our car over in a 20' container with our goods as well our agent John Masons did say they would put the odd box in the car if they needed to and make sure someone removed them from the car in Australia as soon at the car was removed from the container. Don't think they did so. Most agents said no to this option. I cleaned the car myself before it was picked up and it passed the inspection fine. I'm still trying to get a definitive answer if we can or not. I've been told no, but now speaking to Anglo who shipped our other goods they are saying we can!?!!!! Clearly customs can't inspect the car properly if it's all loaded up with personal possessions so the shipper has to unload it. Some can't be bothered with the hassle of doing that so they tell you to ship it empty. I have also heard there is an insurance issue. While the car is covered by insurance goods inside it are not. Besides which think about how your car is going to be transported. Do you really want to leave your possessions in the boot or on the back seat of a car which could well be left unlocked and unattended for long periods?
