I have just recently been denied a TRA as a refrigeration mechanic in australia as i did not meet the scope required.

I only have a city n guilds RaAC level 2 qualification.

Im currently on a 457 visa, living in brisbane and working for a AC company.

Is there any way of obtaining a level 3 qualification in australia?????

Hi mate how did you get on with this did you get the level 3? Im looking at emigrating next year and looking to go into the refrigeration industry myself in Sydney. Im hoping to get some experience under my belt before i come over. Im currently doing a diploma in ac and refrigeration along with city and guilds.

My Dad used to teach a fridge and aircon course at TAFE in Melbourne, if you have a specific question I can copy and paste to him I can find out some stuff for you (maybe!)

At least I think that's what he taught.

Fairly sure................. He's a fridgy/aircon engineer anyway!

Cheers

Hi Mate,

Thanks for replying. Im studying a diploma in ac and refrigertaion along with gaining the city and guilds certificates so soon as ive done that ill be looking at coming over. It wont be on a skill visa as my wife is australian. I just wanted to know how is the industry over there, and how do go about getting your quialifications checked once your over? Thanks.

Hiya guys,

Dad got back to me and I'll paste his info for you in the hope it makes sense -

The UK city and guilds certificate is a recognised qualification and can be

used as part of ones title.

There's many aspects of AC & Refrigeration open to pursue and always seems

to be opportunities available. My advice would be to keep looking at the

on-line job vacancies and/or write to the major AC Contractors, Service

Providers (allied fields such as water treatment), and Consultants. The

field is still expanding.

Hope this helps :)
