Neil we have took the plunge and booked our meds for end of april. Agent told us not to frontload but what the hell!

That phone call certainly gave us a little spring in our step, we needed it somewhere coz it aint in the weather up North!

Hi,

We were thinking of doing the same with our meds, police check has been requested so should get that in a few weeks. On reflection we decided to wait until (hopefully) get assigned a case officer and they ask us.

Application sent end of November so if the processing times are correct (fingers crossed) then we should hear something around June/July.

All the best anyway.

We called Adelaide last week and the girl actually seemed quite surprised that we didn't have a case officer - said she was going to speak to the head of department. Which I thought was a little strange.

We requested our police certificates at the end of Feb (before we knew about the delay) thinking it was going to take over a month. They arrived a week later. It means, obviously, that we have to validate before February next year, but that's not a problem. Don't think I could take another British winter ;)

I'm with you Choobs, hoping this going to be my last winter! (If it ever ends!!) Not sure it will be though, my application went in on 21 March and I'm told it will take 5 months without any delays!! The more you read on here and Austimeline it takes forever to get anywhere!!

Here's hoping and fingers crossed

Good luck Choobs,

Let me know what they say. We have sent for our Police checks so should get these around end of this month.

We applied in November and my only concern is that we get these before November as we have booked to go back to OZ for a good luck round at the areas. I was wanting the Visa then so that we dont have to go back again in a few months.

All the best and hope that it's good news.

We're eerily alike, Neil :) We lodged late November, and I'm an RPL ACS techie :) As far as I'm aware, our five months (maximum wait for a case officer) is up at the end of this month, so we're going to book medicals for then - we plan on moving pretty swiftly, assuming the visa is granted, so if the medicals are a little early, it doesn't matter much.

Hi,

Couldn’t sleep last night so decided to give Adelaide a call regarding current processing times. I've been reading different accounts concerning processing times and that’s what was going through my head at 02.30am this morning.

I don’t know if it's only me but everything about living in the UK at the moment is bring me down, travel to and from work, work as a whole the list goes on.

Anyway been given the date of 17th September as the current time for Non MODL Skilled Independent Visa. Now I know some of you might say "well they told me this date" I only thought I’d let people know what I was told this morning.

Heres to the waiting.........

Had a few nights like that recently :-( We were told that the delay to non-MODL 138s basically meant that it would take 4-5 months to have a case officer allocated rather than the expected 3-4. This gives us a case officer allocation deadline of next week, so if that happens it'll hopefully give everyone else a rough idea if what the timescales are.

Cheers

Hi Choobs and everyone else

We applied for a non MODL 138 in October and have now been waiting precisely 6 months and 11 days for a case officer.

We have frontloaded meds and pccs and have noticed that others in this position haven't heard from a case officer for up to 7 months when AoS request is made (from austimeline).

Anyway we too are getting impatient with how to time house sale etc esp since I have a job lined up for August so our agent is going to phone DIMIA on Monday am to find out what is happening. I will let you guys know as soon as I do. :)

Heres hoping we are not in region 4. :!: :!:

Hi There,

Visa 138 is Skilled - Australian Sponsored, it's similar to 136 but you get extra points for having a family member sponsor who lives in Australia.

Hope that helps.

Anita :)

This is annoying: phoned Adelaide this morning and was told that late september was being processed and that we should expect to wait 6-7 weeks for a case officer (we lodged in late November).

The annoying thing is that the guy asked several times if my occupation is on the MODL list. At the time we lodged, there were no IT specialisations on the list, now there are two (network security and ecommerce) which match exactly what I do. So, I had to nominate an occupation which best matched my skills - Systems manager.

However, our agent rightly informed us (months and months ago) that in order to change classification we'd need to start over and I aint doing that ;-)

So, despite my occupation appearing on MODL list a month after lodgement, it's time to batten down the hatches and wait along with all the other MODL people :)

Scary same thing happened to us! Hubby has his CISSP and SIEBEL qual/experience and guess what they both went on the MODL in Jan 2 months after applying. Adelaide told us we could email them and apply for priority processing even though we didn't want the points. we did that only to have a very nice email back telling us that we would have to reapply with ACS even for priority processing. I think Adelaide would benefit from some scripting Software packages for the call centre. then they would a) give the right message, B) tell everyone the same message.

We have phoned 4 times now and had 4 different stories thank god for this website so you can at least read what other people have been told and then try and piece together some sort of general message based on the majority!

On our latest conversation with them we were advised that frontloading your meds is a good idea as this can cut 6 weeks off your app. Our agent was adamant that we must wait to be requested. We are going for them anyway although we were told that the meds are only valid for 3 months before a case office is assigned. Therfore is you submit them and you are not assigned a case office before 3 months are up then your meds will have to be redone! Not sure if this is true anyone else know?

Thanks

Bec

Yet another date...

Decided to make the agent work for his/her money and requested that they formally write to DIMIA for clarification on current processing times. Received an e-mail direct from the Duty officer confirming that non modl 136 are currently upto 7th October 2005.

Hopefully only another 4 weeks before we hear something as they received the visa application on the 7th November.

Cheers.

WE GOT A CO!!!!!!! House went on the market last week and sold within couple of days felt very very sick as no CO. Meds completed on 20th May as decided to frontload. Hubby got up early this morning to phone Adelaide and there was an email from our agent telling us to go for our medicals which must be with sydney within 20 days. thank god we front loaded I thought you got 90 days to send them. Only shocker was the letter also said we would have to be in Aus by 9th August, 3 months before we were intending to go! This is due to PCC expiring so have emailed and asked if we can send new ones to extend this date. We have applied for new PCC 4 weeks ago anticipating the expiry of the frontloaded ones hope they will accept them. either way now the house is selling we have decided to move heaven and earth to go for 9th august.

SOOOOO Excited at least us October non MODL are moving and soon onto you November ones as ours is 31st Oct.

Neil any news?

Hi Guys

PLease listen to some very good advice, I know you all keep getting told by your agent not to bother the good people at Adelaide, but you must, I can think of three different people who I know have found an excuse to email them with a question, to then be told to go ahead with either medicals or police checks, or to have their CO assigned, this also happened to us, we put in our application in september, in December we emailed them asking who our CO was and they emailed us back asking us to go for our meds, had visa granted by 27/02/06.

I really do beleive that unless you remind them you have an application sitting on their desk they will forget you.

We did not use an agent so did all this on our owns backs but listened to some really good advice of people we contacted.

Good luck to you all

Hiya,

Firstly well done hope everything goes fine with the meds etc. Got a message to say that we should be hearing something in the next 2 weeks (fingers crossed).

It's been a long time coming or is it just me.

All the very very best with your future plans.

Best of luck mate - if you weren't going to the other end of the country, I'd buy you a celebratory beer when we (eventually) got there :)
