marco&kaza Posted January 29, 2011 Share Posted January 29, 2011 hi Craig, I have 20 years experence fitting upvc windows in the uk .I have work in Brisbane & the Gold coast on commercial high rise fitting alloy frame system.We are planning how return to OZ this year as a family. I am ready to come early if I can find the right type of long term work .I never knew they fittered upvc windows in OZ. What type of work are you doing? what are the pay rates? would there be any work for me in the near future ? My business partner and I are experienced glazing installers that set up our own sub-contract business some 5 years ago now. We have just completed our latest six month project and are actively seeking other work. We have over 20 years experience in the glazing industry working on many varied system and material types. Over the last 5 years the bulk of our work has been in the high spec Aluminium sector. This has mainly been installing, Bi-Folding Doors, Large Lift and Slide Panel Doors, Conventional Patio Doors, Specialist Mono Sliding Curtain Panel Doors, Glass Curtains, Architectural Roofing Systems, Curtain Walling, Conventional Windows and Doors, Manual / Electrically Operated In-Glazed Blinds, and ‘Smart –Glass’ Electrically Obscuring glazing. My partner is currently working as a Factory Manager for a PVCu Window company in the UK. He is also a window fabricator and has been doing the job for about 18 years. We are looking to move to Oz when its financially possible and this role doesnt seem to appear on the trade list for jobs in demand over there. Can you tell me if there is a requirement for this skill and if getting a job with a visa would be at all possible? Any advice that you may have would be greatly appreciated. joannekels Posted June 15, 2012 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Hi browsing through poms in oz, my partner has 18 years experience in upvc window fabricating, from the ordering of materials to the quality control of the windows leaving the premises, also has foreman experience on the shopfloor, would be interested to know if there is a call for this work in Australia, he also has a little experience of fitting the windows and does remedial work on jobs.
