Hi Sinead,

we are hoping to stay in ocean reef we have a 12yr old son and he likes ocean reef high or prendiville catholic, but at first we are looking at quinns rock for short term as rentals near ocean reef are so expensive or booked, plus they will be on holidays from school when we arrive hopefully. We live in the centre of Kilkenny 2 min from town, where does your brother in law live?

Where you doing your medicals?

Muriel

Hi Sarah,

Myself, my husband and two kiddies ages 5 and 7 are planning on migrating to perth. My husband qualifies for a skilled visa however he may have a job offer which would be great. we are in the very early stages but yes, we will be trying to rent our house for the first two years at least. For that same reason as you but it will also serve as a bit of a security blanket for me...im a bit of a home bird. Do you think you will get someone to rent your house? Im not so sure because we live in the a**se hole of nowwhere but we will see. Just waiting to see what happens with the job offer before we apply for the skilled visa. Best of luck with it all anyway:)

Julie

Hi Jw00,

We are in the same boat trying to rent out our house but its in the middle of nowhere. Did you use rental agents? We have used the local agent - Sherry Fitz but are having no joy and a lot of the more specialised letting agents have no interest in properties outside of the city.

Have never rented out before so wondering are there pitfalls to look out for?

Hi guys, if you go to your local garda station they should give you a blank form where you give your address,d.o.b,place of birth and phone no.They send it off to their superintendent and you should have it back within a week.Ours came back no problem and i sent it off to my co.Hope this helps.Derek.

Crosby family - my brother in law is a guard so he got us the forms, send me your address to my email address or pm me here and il post you on the blank forms i have spare here. You just fill them in and hand them into your local garda station for the attention of the superintendent. He should then post you out the clearance letters which you send to agent. x

Hey Derek,

How did you get your police clearances from Australia and here?

Myra

Hi Myra,

i got my agent to do it for me as i was afraid of messing it up cost me $100 dollars. But if you google oz police checks youll find the forms you need.It costs about $50 dollars to do it yourself, just goes to show the profits agents are making.Good luck anyways!Derek.:idea:Yeah i was there 7 years ago, should have done all this when i was there but you know there for a good time not a long time!!

Ditchcutter - I know, it's like they just charge double for everything! I was in oz around that time too, how long were you there? I was there for two years, met Kevin in Sydney, he's from Cork. Came home then in 06, and askin ourselves every day since, why did we come home? But we're goin back now so its all good, really can't wait. we love australia....

Hi All

We are a family of 4 from Dublin heading to Oceans Reef/Mullaloo area Jan 2012 (fingers crossed) We had our medicals on Monday in the Mater and the cost for €740. (at the time there was a 5 week wait!)

The doctors were great with the two kids and we were on the system so they filled everything out online. When we got home from the hospital i checked online and the kids medicals were received and the next day they were finalised. On thursday our bloods were received but everything else still says required!

We got our police checks back on Thursday. As Sinead said i just went to the Garda station they gave me a form (one page) and we got them back within a week.

All documents are "Met" except myself and my hubby's medicals so fingers crossed these will be finalised soon as i am checking the website 20 times a day!!!

Good luck to all and hopefully we can all meet up on the other side!!!
