Do you think there is a backlog these days because usually I have seen other people got it finalised after a couple of days as being referred.

My wife & son's medical was already finalize within approximately 4-5days after it was referred. Mine was still referred since January 6 and my anxiety level rises up!

The rest of our requirements (documents) does not change. Wondering if they need to finalize the medical first before the rest follows.

What's keeping them so slow these days??? :arghh:

why do they say 'referred' that would worry me or is it normal?

Yes, this is normal as many people (or families) were referred from HOC (Health Operations Centre) to MOC (Medical Officer of the Commonwealth) for further review. Don't worry, all things go well.

All of my family members (and me) were "finalised" and "met" except my daughter. She was required for further medicals. DIAC sent me this letter:

developmental status.

details of psychological testing, developmental milestones (such as

Denver or Griffiths scale) and a formal developmental age/IQ assessment.

If a school or preschool report is available please forward this.

her age).

The report should address the need for special schooling and the

prognosis for independent living.

The report must be sealed by you, the Doctor, stamped and signed, then

sent from your clinic to the Global Health (GH) at the following address:

Had our medicals done 9th December, 2 were finalised on 14/12, 1 was referred 14 and finalised 16th December, but then last 1 was not loaded from doctors til 16th due to waiting for consultants letter. Nothing changed until last week 13/1/11, I emailed them to make sure last 1 had been received and was told there was a system error. Connors have now been referred 14/1/11 so just waiting. So there doesn't seem to be any pattern

Hi Macklon,

I think you received the email because your medicals were sent to Adelaide who would have forwarded them to Sydney.

I think those caught in the christmas holidays are stacked because I have seen some of the people who have done their medicals in Jan are finalized. I did my medicals on 16th Dec and they are also stacked because it would have reached them during the Christmas holidays. I really hope that they clear all as quickly as possible.

Miguelaustro, I pray that all goes well for you daughter.

Good luck to you all.

Thanks everyone.

Mine and my daughter's are now showing as finalised but my wife's are still referred.

Just want to add some statistic:

My meds were delivered to Sydney on Dec 29, 2010.

Here is what I see in statistic now:

07/01/2011 Health requirements outstanding

07/01/2011 Further medical results received

07/01/2011 Further medical results received

07/01/2011 Further medical results received

07/01/2011 HIV blood test received

Does anybody knows why everyone has status "referred" but I have "received"?

I guess, yours has been received but not checked. Once it is checked it will go to referred or finalized. If it is referred, it will be rechecked by Docs before it can be finalized or if there is any complications, they will send you for further tests.

Hi Ozzieland,

Any update at your end? My wife's are still showing as referred even after two weeks, don't know why they are taking so much time these days to finalise medicals.

Same here... Just checked the online status and there is absolutely no change. It is almost 3 weeks now. Don't know what is taking that long. They are clearing the medicals that have reached them well after mine. Just hoping they do it quickly, waiting my visa !!!

Hi AlexanderZ, just to share with you my case.

My meds were delivered to Sydney on Jan 21, 2011.

On 24/1/11(today), my status changed to

24/1/2011 Health requirements finalized

24/1/2011 Further medical results received.....

Finalized means everything is ok. Immediately after i've sent my Police Check (24/1) today & received by my CO, i got my 176 VISA! Everything (meds & Police & Visa Grant) received & approved within 1 day! (one afternoon, in fact!)

Hope my info helps. Cheers!
