Hi Guys

It must be awful waiting, I don't want to get your hopes up but this was posted by "armandra" on the VIC thread today and I thought you might like to see it.

Premier Kristina Keneally today announced the NSW Government will increase the number of migrants that it nominates to live and work in the State each year – and has expanded the number of skilled professions to 138.

“This is about attracting the world’s best and brightest to NSW,” Ms Keneally said.

“It is about matching up the needs of the State to the Federal Government’s immigration policies.”

New occupations added to the NSW State Migration Plan include:

For Sydney:

• Financial Investment Adviser;

• Insurance Broker;

• Solicitor;

• Life Scientist; and

• Biochemist.

NSW will increase the Federal immigration skilled migrants intake by 15 per cent to 1750 under the State Migration Plan.

I just took a look at the link and it seesm like new/ added Regional occupations include:

For regional New South Wales:

• Fitter (General);

• Vocational Education Teacher (Non Trades);

• Metal Machinist (First Class);

• Toolmaker; and

• Vocational Education Teacher (Trades);

• Cabinetmaker.

• Corporate General Manager;

• Production Manager (Manufacturing);

• Pharmacist Hospital;

• Pharmacist Retail;

• Chef;

• Baker;

• Pastry chef;

Sorry it may be old news to you guys I don't follow the thread - I hope its not another false alarm and that it is positive news

Hi Carolina,

Haven't been on here for a while. Had resigned myself to the long wait! However, it looks like things may finally be moving.

We could be having that bbq sooner than we thought.

I have added my details so you can put me on your list.

Hi Carolina,

Cat 3 is now moving again and is up to 28 April 2009. You should get allocated to a CO in the next few weeks even without NSW.

Lots of speculation this last week that the Minister has signed the NSW SMP, and the What's New page on the NSW website has been password protected for the last few days, but we are all still waiting for official confirmation. Mañana.

Hi Austranglian,

"mañana" sounds good to me! LOL

I hope you are right.....I am seeing some movement among Cat3 applicants, it seems they have reached April applicants.....So I guess one way or the other my turn is getting close. I thought about asking for queensland SS, but I think I will just sit and wait.....

I am positive that NSW SMP will be out in 2 weeks maximum.....

Hi all.

Eventually, I've sent my sponsorship application to NSW (Software Engineer)!

Just a few quick questions for those, who have already obtained the sponsorship: do they send any notification once the case is finalized? How long does the processing usually take? They claim it should be about 4-6 weeks... I wonder do I need to start chasing my postman already or just keep waiting for an email from business.nsw.gov.au ?

Good luck to all of us waiting for the SMP, hope we'll see it soon.

Cheers,

nagliyvred.

Hi Nagliyvred,

NSW took 5 weeks to grant my State Sponsorship in Sept/Oct 2010. From what I've seen on this forum most applicants to NSW seem to hear back within 4 weeks so hopefully yours will be quicker. All the best.

Hi Colorana and welcome to the NSW Club! We seem to have only a small membership so it's good to see additional recruits.

Have you been able to confirm DIAC received your form 1100 from the State? We've seen other State's Cat 2 members who moved from 175 to 176 delayed because DIAC were still treating their application as a 175. Hopefully we'll all see some progress in the coming weeks.
