clickettuk Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Hi, We're moving to Oz in January and have bought in the UK a new laptop, clothes and matress. Are we able to claim back the tax on these goods? If so, does anyone know how? Are there any other benefits we're able to claim when we leave???? Thanks.
Guest The Ropey HOFF Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Sorry i don't know the answer to this, i have replied to bump your post up to the front, in the hope someone else can give you an answer - all the best.
Guest Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 No, I don't think you can claim that VAT back. The VAT refund scheme is available to non-EU foreign visitors to the UK, so travelling on a UK passport will make you inelligible. http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageTravel_ShowContent&id=HMCE_CL_000141&propertyType=document
