Hi There,

Happy New year to all!

I'm really just looking for any advice on what kind of jobs are available in around Varsity and Robina. I am arriving on the GC at the beginning of feb, and I've been "job hunting" for quite a while, with no avail!!

I guess the circumstances are against me, in the sense that I am overseas, and i'm not available for at least another month - I'm wondering whether I should continue to trawl or to just wait until I get there?

has anyone had a similiar experience? I am on a partner visa, so the normal work/sponship doesn't apply - I have 5 years experience in Communications & Business Admin, And a tertiary qualification in Psychology.

I have registered with some recruitment agencies, and have had all my qualifications and CV changed to suit the Aus job market. Yet still no luck!

If anyone knows of anything coming up in the area, or any advise or anything!!! that would be really, really appreciated!

Thanks so much,

Hi Anthea,

Robina is mainly Residential/Retail with the add in of Austar being situated just off Robina Town Centre. Varsity however is mainly residential with the addition of Bond Uni really so very student area one side and residential the other. Southport is where the main areas of "core" Industrial/banks etc are situated and only a 10 minute drive from Robina area. Burleigh is also more warehouses/industrial however there is a lot of development going on in and around the new Varsity Train station. To be honest we have lots of friends looking for work, IBM reside in Varsity and my friend has just been told they are closing down this year, she has worked there for a few years and now needs to find work. You will struggle to get anything while offshore as there is so many people here looking. You could also consider Surfers as there is lots of hotels/apartments where you could pick up an admin job, I did this for 2 years when I first arrived.

Good Look

Varsity and Robina are on the main train line to Brisbane so check sites there as well, you can be in Brisbane CBD in 1.5 hours
