Is it me, or do you reckon the OP had more to do with a drop of the old vino being drunk being new year and all that. I think we need the experts at Bletchley Park to decipher that one, couldn't make up my mind if the OP was optimistic or pessimistic.:goofy::goofy:

And as far as Hampshire goes, bloody good cricket team.

Cheers Tony.

I think someone from Hampshire told him the exchange rate was 2.2!

I usually check here XE.com - AUD - Australian Dollar

Oh wow how nice would it be for the exchange rate to be around that figure or even higher rather than what it is at the moment 1.5 if you are lucky. We keep our eyes on the exchange rate as we want to bring some money with us, but they way it is at the moment, there is no point.

That is a good point and why not take this opportunity now that you are there to help others like they helped you in the early days. It is always better to get as many points of view as you can on things that are worrying you about such a big move.Your point of view may not always be what people want to hear, but sometimes people need to hear both sides of the story to make a rational decision.

It troubles me when my parents talk about going back. I abandoned my Uni plans, gave up my place at Southampton and my blue bedroom  ...and a lot of time and energy to get to Aus. I know it's expensive, but I have everything here! I've got the guitar, the Uni place, jobs I could've never dreamed of having in England and a girl.

I know it's not for everyone, this thread made me LOL and I say "good riddance, I hope you have the time of your life..." (in the words of Green Day)

Hahaha! Happy New Year! :biggrin::cute:

Before he arrived (or when sober) I think it has some relevance of understanding.

After reading a lot of posts on here, I take in the good points and the bad points of Australia. And as valid or invalid as they are I have come to the conclusion that they are personnel perspective. My only way to find out if it will suit me is to get my backside there and try it out for my girlfriend, me and the kids.

Points taken- food aren’t no cheaper

Property aren’t cheap

Some wages are better some are worse

Fuel is slightly cheaper (Still don’t understand why I don’t see as much solar energy)

But all in all it seems balanced to me

So I am going to crack on with the visa application, Try it for myself and form my own opinions for at least 2 years.

Then Hey Ho if it isn’t for me back I will trot to the U.K and to be honest that’s when the U.K economy might just be getting back off its knees.

Yep big chunk of ££££’s might be spent in that time.

But when your I look back I can say yep, I tried it and came back.........or I tried it and loved it

You can go to your grave with your memories but not with the promise on the Bank of England...ie ££££’s
